Sunday am - solid 5.2 wind and 2' onshore conditions - just me and a kiter. Check the nautical chart below to understand the potential of this place! It needs a S'ly wind (SW gets blocked by the Bluff). It was SSE on Sunday and was really good - gybing near the exposed reef section, backside wave riding near the pole. There was supposed to be 5' at Day St, so hence the decent size at Kent. Somewhat fickle to deliver but worth the drive when it does.
Hey Slim
If its the spot I think it is I got a great sail in there the year before last between Christmas and new year.
Were some nice little backside wave rides to be had and the odd jump.
Hope to get a few there around the same time this year.
In fact keen to get any wave riding in any where on the Goolwa to Victor Harbour stretch ?
Kev
Damn it, we did consider it Saturday, but made the call for Goolwa instead,
Was it weedy?
Glad you scored it
Nope, wasn't weedy although it was low tide (must've been a higher one!).
Kev, I reckon this is your best bet at this time of year. Unsure what the sea-breezes are like there, but saw a Southerly Buster come thru there one year and it would've been a good sail.
Also there's an outside chance of waves at Goolwa if you're willing to glug out in a NW'ly (there's a been pair of humungous dolphins there too both times I've sailed it).
Else drive back over the hill to Sellicks late afternoon if its hot and there's some Easterly wind movement.
PS: Given up looking at "Point Elliot" (aka Chickens run) for a sail, tho had a fun novelty surf there this winter.
