This event is scheduled for the weekend originally reserved for the Marathon. We need a few more weeks to get some Department of Transport approvals in place for both the marathon and slalom events, so let's start the winter series off with some flat-out speed sailing instead.

Stay tuned for further details, but for now, can everyone please do whatever they usually do to bring on the wind - ideally a 30-45 knot westerly!

Awsome that's exactly what i was hoping for. Suits me a bit better than the marathon. Just can't wait to get out and that. Think the long weekend might be the first go so i can warm up for the GPS day.

Can't wait

Looking for a sail ASAP!!! Busting. Ah well still meant to be going carefully i think though. But Windsurfing's okay i reckon and i'm prity sure i've convinced Dad for atleast the GPS day, probably the long weekend, and was gona try for this weekend but there looks to be no wind. I feel okay now anyway, plan would be not to catepult though.

Did a little bit of exercise this week and the improvement from prior to the surgery is just huge, and hopefully will improve more continually for the next few months while i fully recover. Even i noticed it. So just can't wait to get out on the water.

Will probably catch up with you soon Dave.

Cheers
Bubs

EDIT: P.S: When you going to join the elite squad of "THE GYBE TURKEYS" Dave??? We need some extra. Havn't had a team post since before i went away. Dave Mossop managed to recruit Richard Upton so we seem to be getting better.

Forecast not looking too good at this stage. Would be be wise to consider postponing for a couple of weeks to try and get better speed sailing conditions?

Keep an eye on the forcast and make your decission on friday night i reckon. I got that youth coaching SASI something starting the saturday after so try not do it then lol and that goes every second saturday from then on. I would just wait until you get a good forcast rather than setting a date. Call it at the last minute im sure most wont mind. Im just desperat for a sail though so i might even head out this weekend if theres going to be 15 knots or so on the saturday, tied up once again on sunday.

This weekend's first round of the KASailWINTERSERIES will be postponed for a couple of weeks. The forecast is looking dodgy, and we are still waiting for the Aquatic Activity Licence required from DTEI.

Maybe the July 5/6 weekend. Steve R, are you and the boat free for this weekend?

Thanks.

Hi Chris and Dave ,should be no problem I think for the boat .
The other day I was sailing at Hindmarsh Island and a request was made by the Marina people that sailors avoid driving their cars on the grass and just use the carpark as they are probably afraid of damage as the ground gets softer due to the beautiful rain we are getting. We are all most welcome to sail there just to be careful of the the nicely trimmed grass there.
Please pass this on to all

Steve

Yeah i should be good for then hopefully. keep us posted, call it at the last minute probably.

I'm on school holidays in 2 days time. My year goes on a school camp next week which i cant go on (to close to surgery and to remote - no hospitals near incase something goes wrong) so i get an extra week of holidays which is awsome. 4 weeks break this semester, plenty of time for sailing. Still looking for some wind so i can get out on the bloody water. getting very frustrating, last sailed mid march and just want to get out.

Maybe we should start a thread on this, so Steve, you and I can yack on about our impending holiday?

All sounds good to me Chris and Steve, although parking on the grass? Pfffft! I will ring doug and see if this is actually the case, I am sure the cafe will be reaping the benefits of 20-30 sailors a weekend in Summer buying coffee/beer/snacks etc.....

This weekend isn't looking to bad??? It's a NW but at the moment i'm happy with any wind. still havn't been able to get back on the water yet. But if you go this weekend try your best to go Sunday lol because i'm already doing this other YSA Bic Techno sailing thing at the Adelaide club which i cant miss on Saturday. That goes ahead wether theres 2 knots or 30 knots so i know it will happen lol. Would love to get out for some real sailing soon though but i dont think goolwa will be ideal on a NW will it??

I would go this weekend becasue you really don't know what you'll get over the next few weeks. See what everyone reckons. Is it possible to do it this early though?

Cheers

It's on!

This Saturday we will hold the first of the KA Winterseries events. It will either be speed or marathon. We will determine this at the race briefing on the day once we see the weather conditions and the mood of the participants.

It will be at Boggy Lake - or the 'New Boggy Lake' which is about 2 kms further down the road. I think it's called Lake Reserve Road.

Please post to this forum thread if you have any queries.

Hope to see you there.

I thought today was good shame about the wind. Well done Chris and others for doing such a good job at organizing it. Who was the winner in the end?
