Can anyone tell me what the best way is for juniors to get starting in Windsurfing in SA? Have a 10 year old who is as keen as mustard but I just don't know how to get started.

Any suggestions?

maybe contact Windsurfing SA, John will be able to point you in the right direction, or you can keep an eye out for when we are heading down the coast, you are more than welcome to come down and use some of our gear, we can give some tuition as well......Goolwa or Milang would probably be best.

Yeah i started early, around 6 years old, theres not much around in SA for windsurfing and especially juniors. When i started i was lucky enough that my dad had done it when windsurfing was really in it's prime and he taught my brother and i together. We were always just sailing together and once we were more compitent we just went out with all the other adults at Goolwa, Murray Mouth, Milang, Boggy Lake etc. Anyone around the place i'm sure will be willing to give a hand and Dave has the right idea with contacting John at Windsurfing SA.

Take up the offer with the gear and lessons as well i reckon, good learning gear he has and you just have to get out there and do it really. Might seya round sometime.

Cheers

Thanks for the offer of help and the comments.

I contacted John and his suggestion was to seek out a windsurfing school. Unfortunately these cater for schools and not individuals.

I also found the group trying to get longboarding up and running on West Lakes and a Junior/Youth program about to start up through Yachting South Australia. Refer to a new thread about this.

Thanks

Seriously, If you are keen to get out on the water and you dont have beginner gear, let me know and we can hook up, we have plenty of gear to use, even for younguns! Santa got our daughter the Ezzy kids rig for christmas and its got a 2.0 and a 2.5 mtr monfilm sail, teamed up with the RRD medium board its a great kids set up, Phoebe will be more than happy to share.
