krankin in now down this way - snaps and a 4.7 about 130pm me thinks...
mmm 4.7
Update - was krankin - sailed very well powered on the 4.7 on the 84 rrd - rich and susie on 4.2s - everyone was getting some nice jumps - dropped to 5.4 weather at 2:30/3ish
Weather looking all to cool tomorrow......
Awesomely 4.2 - 4.7 wind.... the Aldinga Bommie should be ON.
See some of you tomorrow 12.30 - 1ish.
Today was great at snapper, was my first sail there it was so smooth on the inside and plenty of waves for jumping. Thanks Kym and Dave for lending me the mast, very much appreciated![]()
today was EPIC loved every second. down at day street in the morning! decent waves! pretty unpredictable wind! but good hard work waves. i suppose its kinda typical for down there! then nice big foot long subway lunch! with big can of mother!! then off to snaps. hit it a bit late and was so gnarley wind! way over powered on 4.2. but alll worth it cause im really hoping susie got some great snaps from snaps! a awesome day! lets pray for tomorrwo! should be insane!! ![]()
saturday- classic middleton- 0 to 35kts, 1ft to logo high, all before lunch.
brings home u gotta have right gear for it - big, fast planing board to shoot u out the back that still rips on the waves (blatant plug- try a 90 or 95 twin or 85 for smaller guys). less known about twins is wider tail area than singles so they pop up onto plane quicker.- u get all wave ability of a smaller board without sinking and exhasuting yourself in lulls.
gotta agree 100%,,gave my new jptwin 84 a work out at d st and wouldnt go back to single fin in x shore: much looser, more forgiving, less effort to turn and for me 80kg floated really well and didnt seem to bounce in bottom turn like my single fin..
The sad thing is ithink i will need a 95 litre twin for the iffy days..more doe..
Took twin out today in onshore and its performance was acceptable but work best in xshore..long live the twinny![]()
You should have brought a few out with you at sea cliff.. :)
yeah shoulda done!!
never tried twin in onshores- where speed is critical not turning, opposite in offshores so my mindset was set on single in onshores as they are slightly quicker; that said am sure twinnie would do job- will give it a try!
I reckon my Twin is better in all wind directions. Enough speed and punch to get out through the surf in onshore conditions and so loose and slashy for backhand waveriding.
It comes into its own in sideshore conditions, but still my choice in onshore.
I'm definitely looking at getting another one to fill the gap between my 74 twin and my 98 freestyle.
It would be interesting to compare the different models to see how they go in various conditions. For example the one I'm riding has a distinct hip going into a mild swallow tail, whereas most of the others I see out have a more conventional outline and pin tail.
I've never been much of a 'tech-head', but I'd be keen to hear other people's perspective.
sounds like a plan (when the plaster comes off!- sorry to hear about wipe out) - twin fin shoot out next day on at dayst followed by debrief, 6 pack entry fee, BS only.
The twin was acceptable in onshore muzza but my single would have been better, better drive(as they say)of the bottom into the whitewater, more squirt.
Have ridden the 80 starboard twin,this is floatier board than the jp84, for my 80kg would be light wind board,liked this board also;
caught a glimpse of the oes in action sat, pretty impressive too
I'm keen Maris! What size twinnies have you got for me to abuse.
I've got my 74 and I 'might' be able to get an 80.
If we can get Pete to bring a few twinnies in JP, Fanatic and F2 it could be a ripper test/demo day.
Clarification needeed on the 'BS only'?
Muzza
got 95, 90, 85 twins- i'm 90kg and love the 90- ride it 90% of time; that said 95 rides amazing for its size; i look forward to giving it a run in waves with a 6.3- reckon will bring wind range down to below 10kts. last year rode some big swell days on 100L freestyle boards in 10kts (supa clean as so light) but they dont turn.
only rules there are no rules- whoever shows up at middleton whenever its windy have a swapfest. Will get Clickboy on hand to shoot the action
bs= bull ** ie keep it low key and not too serious.
