Try entering any WWA comps in WA ( except wave comps ) without a buoyancy vest. At least flares or epirb's are not required.![]()
In fact it is law in SA that buoyancy vest are worn at all times when sailboarding. ![]()
www.sa.gov.au/topics/boating-and-marine/boat-and-marine-safety/marine-safety-equipment/carrying-suitable-safety-equipment sa.gov.au -
Carrying suitable safety equipment Sailboard or kiteboard Each person on board a sailboard or kiteboard must wear: a PFD Type 1, 2 or 3 if within 400 m from the shore a PFD Type 1 if more than 400 m from the shore and carry a waterproof torch or lantern when operating between sunset and sunset.
As the late great Grace Brewster Murray Hopper once said: "It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission".
You can join WindsurfingSA online by clicking on the link. Sorry unable to provide join up on the day. Membership provides event insurance.
The mobile phone is so you can call organisers with a pick up location in case of breakage (e.g., snapped harness line).
The life jacket apart from being "law of the land" is a good place to keep your phone (the windsurfing specific ones that is)!
Board selection for this run needs to be a compromise - you need some buoyancy to get you thru the lighter wind zone (up to Grange jetty) but after that you need a board that is comfortable in the chop.
Event is on this Sunday 26th November.
We've put the time back half an hour so revised timings:
Registration opens - 3 pm
Event briefing - 3:30 pm
All other details the same.
Hope to see you at the event!

As Sam Doecke would say: "I will say more later.". Very underpowered conditions for my gear. Hopefully this inspires some of the fast ocean slalom guys to enter next time. Below are some pics from the action cam and my track.
