How is the water level down at Goolwa at present?

Are you still launching from Hindmarsh Island and forced to generally sail in the channel?

Not sure if I would want to go in the water at all there these days.

Looks like a weedy microbial soup

Would it be any better at Milang or Clayton or Boggy?

Check the water level here:
http://www.sawater.com.au/SAWater/Environment/TheRiverMurray/River+Murray+Levels.htm
At the moment it is -0.05 at was as high as 64 cm around 10/09.
I had a session there on Sunday and it was great in the channels and quite flat near the weed which is now quite thick. Launch from Rankines Landing for easy access to all areas. There are small bits of weed drifting into the channels but not enough to warrant a weedy, you would only need one heading over the beds.
Watch out for shallow areas beside the channel, I found it was about 30cm between the channel marker across from Rankines and the one to the SE.
Also watch out for the paddle steamer.

Just saw your post above - what conditions are you after Quatro25?

Thanks for the update : )

I was looking for conditions to help a friend get started, so a small area of waist deep water. Any location tips would be appreciated.

For learning:
Boggy 2 has the best wind and wait deep water but no facilities and a short walk over rocks and mud.
Goolwa has facilities but has varying water depths and weed beds.
Clayton it gusty but waist deep but may have weed - I have not been there in a while. Also has facilities.
Milang is too shallow/muddy and has hidden concrete blocks.
Take your pick - I would go boggy (2) 1st then Goolwa 2nd for giving someone lessons.

Hi Q

What about North Largs, or Semphore at low tide ?, or the causeway ?. We are getting light wind seabreezes at the moment that are weak but very consistent (by the looks of things - Blackpole). I took advantage of these conditions last April on my 150L board to learn jybing.
