The Goolwa Channel came into existence due to the draught and lack of water in the River/Lake system. I think Rankines Landing only became a windsurfing spot from people looking for places to sail after the water levels forced us away from the traditional locations... Correct me if I'm wrong!
So my question is, if the water level returned to it's original levels by flooding with sea water or by natural means, would Rankines still be a popular windsurfing location or would everyone go back to the old spots?
I'm not a speed sailor, but I'm guessing the speed run would disappear. What about for a good bump'n'jump/beginner/slalom spot. Would this remain a popular place or are the other places (unsailable at the moment) more likely to be better?
we started to sail rankines landing when the water dropped too much for the aqua cafe side, in hind sight we should have always sailed at rankines, better more consistent winds, less jet ski action etc. Water coming back into the lake is a big if tony. So if it does fill again we will still sail at rankines, sugars would be a better speed spot if the lake filled.
Hi Muzza,
If the old boggy had some water we would all love to sail their again - good on all wind directions. Goolwa is great for speed with the exposed sand bank but if it was returned to original level it wouldn't be as good.
Cheers.
Hey peeps, sailed the wall today, was crap.........NOT. was crap [ pause] NOT! Sorry i like BORAT....NOT! it was cool for a newb like me, was strugglin with the deep water starts, then some guy said i should try Boggie 2, i know this has been discused alot, but is it fillin a bit with the xtra rain we have had, cause this local is a tad closer for me and need less deep water, thanx.
I think SE is the best for the Mouth. SW also good but I'd rather go else where.
NE-NW also good but I'd rather go else where.
But it's salt water so i cant sail there because of the sharks
only time i can go in the salt water is to surf !!
only surf I've had this year was on KI, no sharks over there !!
