Semaphore - I have a 40cm fin on my board - will it clear the shallow water between the beach and the rock wall thats 100ms out - at low tides? Ive noticed its mostly kiteboarders there now.
Pronouncing Gybing ? - is it like guy-bing or jive-ing - or is it an american vs Aus pronunciation thing? Thanks
It depends on the tide. Should be ok at high tide but the sandbar varies a bit in that space between the rockwall and the beach.
Same goes for the beach further towards the jetty where we all sail. At low tide the bars in close can be too shallow at first even for a wave fin but the gets better with as the tide comes in.
Gybing isnt pronounced in either of the manners you have described. Im guessing the closest to describe the pronunciation from what you have put would be Ji-bing.
I've SUPed around the inside break at low tide, and goes from 10cm to deep (3-4m??) then to 1m, then deep. It's unbelievable. I don't remember it being like that last year. On a low tide, light/moderate wind, the place (wear we sail) is very easy to sail on big gear. If you want somewhere a bit more behaved than that, then try Largs Bay (just south of the Largs jetty).
