Hey ppl.

I have just repatriated back to Adeliade after three years in the Capital. In just over two weeks my gear will come back and I'll be super-keen to get back on the water. I am one of the old boggy-creek regulars, but I hear Lake Alexandrina ain't much good anymore. That makes me misty - I spent a lot of time on the water down that way over the past ten years.

So where are all the flatwater blasters hanging out these days? I see Carl rates Semaphore and others posting Northhaven is still good on the northlerlies.

I got a semi-beginner under my wing at the moment and will likely spend the rest of this season getting him up to scratch so I'd prefer somewhere not too aggressive so I don't crush him too early! Is Goolwa sailable?

I'm really looking foward to catching up with all the old crew like Carl, Chris, Geoff, Norm, Anthony, Leon et al. Hope you guys haven't hung up your harness just yet!

Cheers,
Shane.

Hi Shane,

How have you been? Boggy lake 2 just old from the old boggy is sailable. Have been sailing there lately - Saturday 20 - 25 knots it was great fun with a flat section in the middle. Have been off semaphore with my slalom gear a few times now - good for some fun bearaways in the chop and swell - just got home from a after work sail today.

Have also been off north haven - only the once but good when the winter northerlies are around. Goolwa was good but now the lakes have been flooded is growing weed in the shallow parts. Will have to buy a weed fin soon.

A few guys sail the murray mouth - haven't sailed there for a while but keen to ride there when and if boggy is no longer.

Keep in touch and catch up soon.

hey Carl,

I've been well, and I'm chuffed to see you're still sailing. I look forward to getting a session in with you.

There is a tight and thriving windsurfing community in Canberra, and the lack of suitable launch spots for kiting means we got it all to ourselves. Not as regularly windy as Boggy and at times notoriously gusty, but a sail is a sail. Canberra is more freestyle than slalom, so I got to see some awesome tricks, sometime only metres away from me (hi Arkham! ) Very inspirational.

So where is Boggy Lake 2? Can you give me detailed directions on how to get there (in relation to the old spot?). And refresh my memory, what are the indicators that it'll be sailable?

Does Easter at lake George still happen?

Hi Guys, my name is Joe, I used to go to Goolwa and later Boggy Lake!

Could someone please give me an exact location for the new spot at Boggy Lake and an update on the situation at Goolwa?

Hey Akim

(apologies on getting your name wrong, I have never seen it written!)

I think Canberra, for its population and patchy conditions, has a good sailing community. I was welcomed in quickly three years ago when I arrived, and cannot ever recall a time I sailed alone. On some easterlies there were near on fifteen of us there. Not bad for the lake.

Scotty and yourself yourself really keep the scene alive (I saw you guys teaching kids this summer which this sport really needs more of). Its also great to see Alex charging up through the ranks. I will continue to watch his progress with great interest, and a touch of envy!

I'll be in Germany for three weeks in the middle of the year. I've not looked into it, so I've no idea about the weather or spots, but if I'm lucky, I might get some sailing in.

You're right, those beginner days are ideal for starting to work on some freestyle myself.

Best of luck mate, I look forward to sailing with you and Alex again one day.

Cheers,
S.
