It has not been possible to sail on boggy lake for a while now, however today I drove down to see how it was looking. You can now walk across boggy lake without getting your feet wet. Additionally where we used to park and rig is now covered with sand.
If you ever lost a fin a boggy you might find it now, unfortunatly could not find mine but did find a power box fin if you lost one and it's the same I have it.
Shocking stuff... i remember at times it was around neck height in places. cant believe its gone to the crapper that bad!!!

i've been away for a few years, but as a bloke who sailed there religiously every weekend for about six years, that makes me very sad. for flatwater blasting with reliable and mostly-consistent wind it was an awesome site. a minutes silence please.
so does that make it goolwa and murray-mouth for all the speed-freaks these days?
Hi Shane,
How have you been? I thought you were coming back to Sth Aust. Even goolwa is starting to get low, milang is too shallow and the top of boggy lake is still okay - for now anyway. Murray mouth was popular about a year ago but a little confined and short run and a little direction dependant.
Hope you come back one day so we catch up.
Cheers.
hey Carl,
Good to hear from ya and to see my old crew are keeping the faith! I always have a peep on this forum to see what you're all up to.
From GPS team challenge I see you and Chris are going strong and Sam (who was sailing in his first season when I was there!) is amazing!
I plan to return to SA sometime in the next few years, it'll kinda depend on work. I really look forward to sailing with you boys again. Say hi to them all for me.
Cheers,
Shane.
looks like some of you guys will have to resort to the Sea soon. its sad to see the natrural waters ways drying up. really bad! but theres plenty of salt water!!! i dont under stand why you dont sail at sellicks beach!!??? flat water and very very windy. in summer any way.
Milang still has some water.........We went there on Saturday with a 440 fin and didnt have to much of a problem. Theres a nice sandy spit to drive out onto andd launch from.
Great for learning.....its all waist deep.
The toe's still pretty stuffed (ie sore) I have sailed on it once and my foot swelled up again....but I can't watch the wind blow by if its good.
I spent Saturday down Milang teaching my son to windsurf..... He's doing great but at one stage when a squall came through I had to chase him out on to the lake about a 1k................Thank God it was all waist deep.

Hi guys just moved back to area and would love to resume the sport was learning when I left and used to go to boggy gather by reports its stuffed now any fresh water that a very ordinary sailor can go? Would like to get some confidence up before battling the biteys!!
Hi Mark
I used to live in Valley View in the late 90's. Nice area :). I want to move back to Modbury.
I've been windsurfing since October. Most of my sailing is at Semaphor and Largs bay. Regarding conditions, It's just a matter of picking your time to sail. In conditions that guys on here call sedate, a beginner would get smashed. As somebody said once, the sea is the goods. The risk is there, but you would be very unlucky to get hassled by sharks in metro waters. There's a plane and chopper that flys over every half an hour or so checking for sharks. You can't beat that for confidence.
If you want to go sailing, give me a call. My mobile is on my profile. I sailed tonight at Semaphor on very light winds with another beginner. We had a good time. I make the best of the conditions: if it's light I practice new moves, if it's hard I do the stuff I know. I'm thinking about going to Semaphore on Sunday. If you're keen, PM or SMS me, and we could meet down there.

Hi Dave
I'm keen. I'm thinking about getting there about 1ish. Should I be there earlier ?
Sorry to hijack topic ![]()
Ja
If you like flat water I'd be a little careful about Sellicks sunday arvo as there may be some chest high sets all day and head high sets rolling in late in the arvo.
Good to watch though if its on and the crew are on it - well thats what were hoping for!
Me and dean and penny had a good 45 minutes powered up with 2-3 foot waves sorry you missed it guys
esspecially to russ who just left as it came in lol
sure is windy now, was overpowered this am on a 4.2 but thats just me, the other guy whoever he was did ok. Was more east se. But scary bullet gusts and the swell has dropped heaps. Maybe later?
