Just letting you all know that the outlet gates have been opened for a week and the sea at high tides is now flowing into the little and middle lakes. An excavater has cleared out the channel to the sea and also the draim M diversion channel to the middle lake, I will go for a cruise on the weekend and see how the water level looks.

Divaldo,
Dosen't look good for the long weekend, looks like the sea water is only going into the first lake and then pushing up into draim M and not even getting into the middle lake, will fire the bike up and check it out on thursday night and give you a update on the level then.

Hey Divaldo,
Hope you didn't misunderstand my earlier post.
I am hoping to get a sail in at Goolwa over the long weekend, and if it sounds like a reasonable crowd will be there, I will bring some of our demo gear.
But we are not holding an organised demo day as such.
If someone else is holding demo day let me know... I'll be there for sure!

PS If I don't get lots of people showing interest, I'll have to do real work!

Cheers
Muzza

Divaldo, checked the lake tonight and as I thought the water is only in the little front lake, also looks like the channel is already starting to sand up, the main water level has had no improvement to when you where there at easter.

Beachport had a huge tide on tuesaday with waves washing over the jetty and taking away part of the cement bike track in front of the caravan park, seems to have had a big push of sea water into the lake, had some big swells the last couple weeks and gale force winds over the weekend, been bloody cold as well. Just need a lot more rain for drain M to feed in more fresh water. October is when the lake should be at it's fullest, still has a long way to go. Jimbob.

Sail in the sea if there is no water in the lake

Yeh I sail in the sea 90% of the time, seeing as divaldo is 400 ks away he just likes to be filled in on how the lake is. divaldo drain M runs from bool lagoon near naracoorte to lake george, bool lagoon fills from flow downhill from the grampians over the border in Victoria, the goverment are looking at diverting this drain to the coorong at salt creek, if this happens the lake will never recover to its past glory days.

Lakes looking pretty crap at the moment, the excavator was there for the second time again a few weeks ago the reclear the outlet, lastest about a week and then sanded up again, currently about 6 foot of sand in front of the sea channel, the farmers also have all the weir gates in holding the water back in drain m. but the bay has been going off, tuesday cross off 25 to 30 and solid 6 foot and clean. no weed to be seen on the beach as we have had heaps of off shore northerlys ,my boys are nearly surfed out, i have a onsite van at beachport so will be there as well on the long weekend. if not i,m only 20 minutes away. jimbob.

Yeah, it was very cold. Channels (Victor Caravan Park) had a wave as well. Looking forward to Beachport, lets hope we get some side off action.

Phoebe might complain about the lack of wind in the Pool of Silom, might need to look at sailing in the ocean, she is pulling gybes now!

Hi Jimbob,

What are the chances of water - amount and quality to sail the lake on October long weekend. A big group is planning on coming but would like some water to sail in.

Thanks,

Carl.

The lake is not full but the water level is the highest i have seen in a long time, certainly more water then when you where last there at easter so sailing wont be a problem and the quality is ok too. the outlet is agian blocked and they are now looking to put 2 rock walls 100 metres out to sea to keep the sea flowing in. was going sailing there today but stopped at surf beach and sailed overpowered on a 5 metre, cross shore, good swell, was 8 sailors out plus me. 7 guys on a trip from warnabool. had a look at the lake after no one around. see you on the long weekend.

Looks like a beachport invasion - know of at least ten people heading down for a sail - no one will be left in Adelaide - saturday night at the Pub might be good for a meal and a socialise - do you need to book tables!.

Lets keep everything crossed for wots of wind and some waves - or lake water for the speedsters.

booking a table on a long weekend is a must especially as the back room is often booked out for functions, the tucker there is very good as well, looks like i have a wedding on the sat night but will still be around sailing and staying in the park all weekend.

Sounds like we better book something - get back to you on that tomorrow - I can think of 8 that would be prob keen - plus Dave's clan.

wheres the reception - like a good wedding reception - you can dance and no one cares how stupid you look or to rephrase it get drunk enough to dance - and don't care who's laughing at your lack of rhythm timing and coordination.
