Howdy neighbours.
I had dinner at the Beachport Hotel two Saturdays ago on a boys sand-driving weekend. Above the bar there is an honour board/trophy of the "Lake George Windsurfing Club" or something like that- I can't remember the exact details. I was at a pub at the time after all.
Any way, I do remember that the last entry on the trophy was from the early 2000's and listed the fastest sailing speed as something astonishing but under 30kts. I'm sure that was a stirling effort by the person concerned way back then. But...
Isn't it time to resurect the trophy, or at least post the speeds you guys are getting these days. Surely you don't want every visitor to the pub to think that speedsailing died nearly 10 years ago and that no-one cracked the 30kt barrier.
I am sure we can sort something out at October Long Weekend!
Jamie, maybe you could chat to the owners, see if we can hook that up?
From memory, all of those times were colated by the local cops with their speed guns at the spit......correct me if I am wrong
Yeh you where right Divaldo all the speeds where done back then with the police radar gun in a dingy. He was a good bloke and a top mate the local copper back then (RIP. Terry). Danny ran the club back then and he called in out the spit when we where sailing today, hopefully I talked him in to join up here and fill you in some more. never noticed honour board before as I normally drink in the front bar. Had a look and a few schonners on the way home and it won't be a problem to do whatever we want with the board, I will try and get a photo of it next time. Good sail today had an hour on the 5.8 RS4 then a couple on the wave gear and my old favourite 4.2 Ezzy.
Here is some photos lake george, even Danny couldn't beleive how good it was looking, the best condition I have seen it in for a fare few years.
big swells again this week to push more in,
Here is the rocky track over the hills between the gate and cattle grid, a dozer has been through and cleaned it up. can drive around in a car easy.
Catch ya Jimbob.
So whats the action for October long weekend - I am packed and ready to go and hoping we get some howling wnw'rs.
