Barmera 4th annual Kiteboading and Windsurfing Experience 09
Well after the massive success of last years trip, The Riverland people are keen to do it all again, even bigger again this year...
So if you missed out last years trip, by now you would of heard all about the crazy fun, that the crew had...
Even that there isn't much kiting and windsurfing done, it is still an epic weekend.![]()
We had crew from all over the state merge into Barmera, for a very social, entertaining weekend..
This years the plans are to make it bigger, better and crazier...
DATES ARE NOVEMBER 6th, 7th and 8th..
Accommodation this year is great, The owner wants us all to stay at the Lakes Shed and Eco Park.
Where we will be just out of town, on the lake front, and we will have the whole place to our sleeves.. (Better than early morning barking dogs)
Here is a run down of the caravan park.
Situated directly on Lake Bonneys foreshore. The Lake Shed and Eco Park offers a range of accommodation from Cabins & Cottages to Power sites and Bunkhouse at all Reasonable prices.

We need to support the owner, he is putting money into the aquatic sports on the lake..
Run Down of events,,
Friday night.. A welcome Bonfire party at the Lakes Shed & Eco Park.
Saturday Daytime, Demo day and ride on the lake, in front of the footy club/Skate park
Saturday night (to be confirmed) Dinner, Drinks Live Band and show at the footy club.
Sunday Morning, recovery breaky and lake activities.
Other than a massive party weekend, there is a reason why we all travel to Lake Bonney..
Over the last couple of year, Lake Bonney has had some bad press about the lack of water, the goal of each years trip is to show that there is still water in the lake, and its a good place to travel to and have fun..

Hey guys just updating the Barmera experience..
Due to things our of are hands, The Lakes Shed and Eco Park has a booking for that weekend.. So we are back to our normal Caravan Park, that we stayed at last year..
Good news is that, there are new management from last year, so they don't know anything at all..
So get in now and book. You will get 10% of the price if you say you are from the kitesurfing/ windsurfing trip..
It looks like that the Footy Club on the Saturday night is going to be massive..
Heaps of Jet skis are coming, just in case of no wind..

Hey guys just updating, The Footy Club is putting on a Band for the Saturday, which should be massive, heaps of locals are willing to party with us.. Also i just got a email from Kim, The motel near the footy club is also keen to have us stay there, so you have a quite option than the caravan park..
Here is Kim email.
hi stewi, kym here, hamood was talking to pete and was wondering if you can add www.barmeralakeresortmotel.com.au/ as some of the guys who want a slightly quieter night may stay there (eg; pete himself i think!).i have just come from there and they too said if you mention the 'Onboard Weekend' you will get a special price. It is right next to the caravan park and on the lake front. rooms start at $85 - $110 for 2 people. $15 extra p/person per room (less what ever they will give off). i am hoping to catch the footy club this week to see if they will organise a band or d.j. and a few free meals or/and beers as prizes. also my mate has the deli in the main drag so i will hit him for a few free breakfasts as prizes- what do you think?. in about 4 weeks the will be topping the lake up with some fresh water so that will be perfect timing. was thinking of going to church to pray for wind for that wekend but couldnt quite bring myself to do it. i will keep you posted- send me an email so i have yours listed. regards kym
Better get booking...![]()

The race format will be decided based on conditions that present(no prizes for being rescued
)
3 days to go, better put those beers on ice, its going to be a hot one..
Oh yeah, bring your PFD.s the marine and harbours dude is right on the whole life jacket thing for Windsurfing and Kiting and maybe even for SUP.![]()
local forecast is very similar to adelaide, morning seems the best, but that depends on the hangover i guess. we have a ski boat as a back up, and a couple of jet skis are coming up. the footy club has a few free meal tickets to give away for anything rad that happens on the day, local deli is giving a couple of free full breakfasts also. this weekend has tradditionaly been a great party weekend for all. accommodation is a 500m stroll along the lake front from the club. if you havent been to barmera come up its a great town plenty of grass for rigging.see you all on the weekend.
BARMERA KITEBOARDING AND WINDSURFING EXPERIENCE 09
looking at the elders weather site barmera is going to fair better than goolwa for wind, 20km saturday and 24 km sunday- and we have a huge party! also we are realy privilaged to have "Hardie' from W.A. gps speed challange in town. welcome to Barmera mate
Hi Kym
What is the Elders weather address ?
I've being looking at BOM wind predictor:
www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml
It's predicting horse latitudes
. Is BOM inaccurate in the river land ?
Ja
I will bring the Windsurfing SA Buoys down for the fun race on Sunday AM - wind permitting. Pete said he may run one on Saturday too if there is enough breeze.
That's looking like the best day I think judging my BOM. We'll see, but I could drive down in the errry hours, rigg up by dawn, and catch whatever is on offer... ![]()
I thought Kym meant knots, not km/h... hehe. I was getting excited.
Guys.. I am heading up the Barmera in the early hours. I'll be rigged up ready to go at sun up (6am). See you there ![]()
Gee, what time are you leaving home Sharkbiscuit...
I was aiming at 8am, but I might have to try harder!
