It's a race day tomorrow folks. Conditions look like the regular conditions - a bit off shore and a bit gusty. Perfect for close hard fought racing.
First race at 6 pm, Brighton and Seacliff Yacht Club. $5 entry includes free pint.

Hi Richard
I will dust off the TC Beacher for tonight - Hamish will be on my big JP Board - see you there for some fun!
Peter
We had good racing conditions last night. Light, gusty, tactical SE. 6 sailors and a good turn out of paddlers. 3 new sailors. Course was very close inshore in deference to the antiquity of the equipment (and some of the sailors). Round a buoy, a boat (anchor rope claimed a few!), the pole, the buoy, the boat, the buoy and home. Any more complicated and we will have to write it on our arms with texta.
To my knowledge no windsurfer ran over a SUP this time - we just ran over each other :-) Finishing order (unconfirmed) was Andre (Wally), Richard (Kona - bridesmaid again), Nick (Raceboard), Ron (Raceboard), Peter (Beacher). Special commendation to Hamish, who tackled the course on a big JP shortboard (160L). Nick and Hamish showed excellent planing speed when the gusts allowed.
There was a close tie for the retro award for the evening. Peter Bub was a strong candidate with a meticulously maintained Ten Cate Beacher, but the award goes to Andre for his 80's fluoro spring suit. We have standards Andre. Come on!
Quite a strange experience on the water as bush fire smoke blew over the hill and across the bay. Made the wind drop - coincidence or powerful forces of nature at work!?! Nice ambience on the terrace as the sun set and a few well earned pints were downed.
Also reports are coming in of people TRAINING for these events. We have standards people. Come on!
Thanks again Tony and crew at BSYC, Onboard and Severne
See you next time!
Richard
