Hi crew - After a great weekend at Robe last year we were thinking crew might want to do another aussie day event.
as Aussie day is a tuesday and many will be working we were planning on a wave session / bbq / surf / SUP somewhere between Semaphore and Middleton on Tuesday the 26th.
The location will be dependant on the forecast on Sunday / Monday.
AIM: expression session, sausage sizzle and sup / surf if there's no wind.
If your keen keep an eye on the forum and I'll email the SSAWS list closer to the day - if you want to be on the list send me an email and I will add you to the list.
we can also discuss the plans for this winters wave events
Cheers
Hi Russell,
I'm keen but have a couple of family birthdays around this date that might complicate things.
Regards, Richard
sweet as! i now have a official windsurfing barby!!! well its mine but always in use for events! aussie day events rock!![]()
We are still planning an expression session BBQ on Tuesday the 26th January.
location will be determined on the sunday before - we are hoping for some wind and waves - and if there's no wind we can at least have a surf / SUP / swim.
Fingers crossed for some NW'rs and waves at Day Street.
Al welcome - Chris has a new BBQ he's dying to test out.
Keep an eye on the forum.
Cheers
Aussie day reminder (Tuesday the 26th January for those who aren't sure)
A week away from Australia Day and the early forecast is for a hot one (38 degrees is the 7 day forecast).
Could we be lucky enough for the planets to align and get some NW'rs and decent swell at Day Street - or a se change and howling sellicks - stay posted - will call the location on sunday dependant on the forecast.
I now I'm sure looking forward to a blast in some waves and a social catch up
cheers
Russ
EDIT: If you want to go on the email list just PM me and you'll get any updates direct
Looks like going southerly on Tuesday - a new SW groundswell expected and a 0.8 dodge tide in the middle of the day (rules out U turns).
Gonna be a tough call re the location I think - maybe mobile - SUP at the MID till the sthly kicks and if its not strong enough head north for the seabreeze
Ideas?
semephore????????????? prob be hard parking. but wind will be awesome. or we can sail moana in a southerly?
Hi everyone - looks like we are heading for Sellicks Beach on Tuesday - either head down from Silver Sands boat ramp ($5 for beach access after about 11) or head down Button Road sellicks beach and we 'll be there from around 1100.
BBQ will be on - bring some snags/BBQ meat/vegies.
beach cricket and surf / SUP until the wind kicks in - forecast is looking like a possibility of a fresh SE in the arvo - could be a bit gusty but we should get a sail even if its late .
Look forward to seeing everyone - bring a few coldies - we should have a big tent for shade as well.
Catch you then at sellicks from 11ish.
Cheers
should be a awesome day!! hope the wind does kick in. everyone bring some big learner gear because im sure there will be a few begginers wanting to have a go!
Howdy - had a chat with afew of the crew and a change of location has been decided - we are meeting at Seacliff / kingston park from 1100 - the BOM have chopped and changed the forecast so many times who knows what we will actually get - but mid arvo has been krankin at seacliff with the seabreeze in last few weeks - so fingers crossed
This is from BOM
Tuesday
Wind: S/SE 8/13 knots, becoming S/SW 13/18 knots during the morning and increasing to 18/23 knots during the afternoon. Winds easing to S/SE 15/20 knots in the evening.
Sea: around 0.5 m, rising to 1 to 1.5 m by early afternoon.
Swell south of Marino Rocks: W/SW below 0.5 m.
Looks like some flatwater blasting and a sausage sizzle.
Catch you there
Russell
Got the day off work so ill be down there tomorrow for a look and a try if someone would be so generous to show me a thing or two...
Look forward to it.
Take care!
See you at Seacliff / kingston park end from around 11 - hope parking isn't too bad - BBQ will be fired up for late brunch
Got some snags bread and sauce but bring cool drinks and some snacks and bring yourself a salad if your into green stuff as well
Looks like we should get a few hours of seabreeze after lunch before possibly going SE later
Happy Australia day
Hi everyone - great turn out yesterday was a lot of sails on the water from first timers to regular blasters - a couple of youngins doing really well too in gusty conditions - venue change was late but in the end the better option.
Everyone had fun with some SUPing, gusty 5-25 knt sailing and retrieving inflatable beach toys, canoes and people as they were being blown out to sea.
3-4 kilometres of cars 2-3 rows deep along sellicks beach is a new experience for me and the old salts who have been sailing there since time began.
Great to have a few beers with the crew some BBQ food and a sail.
Kids were having a ball - and I don't think we ran over anyone in the shorebreak - despite wall to wall people.
Cheers to everyone look forward to doing it again soon (still got a loaf of bread and twenty sausages left for next time)
Hopefully there will be a few piccies of the day to come
I had a ripper time. Thanks to the guys who put in the time to organize it.
Caught up with a lot of guys (and girls) I haven't seen in a while and had some fun out on the water.
Love the new gear, never had a board which is so smooth to ride.
Bring on some waves!
Off topic...
Anyone keen to camp at 3rd ramp this year (easter), I'll be heading down to rough it! It would be great to get a group together down there... I'll put the big tent in if theres a few takers!
Note to self... this time don't drink with Chris Wade![]()
yeah, nearly drowned at stoney the morning after, cant believe that was nearly a year ago!
great day yesterday, good job organising and keeping everybody in the loop.
sincere apologies to indie, i know what it's like getting clocked on the swede by an 18 month old with a spade, he usually wakes me up with his wooden mallet.
sweet fun! had a good blast. i think i seen two cameras out so somebody will have some pics! good to see heaps of young guys out giving it a go. i aint roughing at 3rd ramp...... i seen that snake there last year and has scared me for life. camp grounds have showers and are good minus the snakes too.
Vikki and I'll will be heading down easter time. Were planning on camping in little dip NP, which is 10 min south of Robe. Anyone is welcome to join us there, it has good protection from the elements, just in case we luck some wind this year.
Muzza, I will be crashing in the back of the wagon on the friday night as usual. but then back to beachport for the rest,
have to work dayshift Sunday and Monday though. been SE 23 to 28 here last night and again this arvo.
