Custom King Revolution Ergal diamitor 29 double pin system
just got this boom today, took it out in 18 knotts and on a 5.8 superfreak.
first thing i liked about it was that the clamp head swivels up and down so it will always stay flush on the mast, no matter where it is located in the cut away, not only this, the clamp design for attaching it to the mast is the easiest system i have ever used, it is a hindge but it doesn't snap back like some of the other one piece clips, and it is 10 times easier than the other designs, where it is on a piece of rope going through the clip (so it is in 2 pieces).
it is a slim diamitor so it is easy to get a good grip on the boom, and for me this is better than the regular diamator booms especially when i come out of a gybe and i struggle to get a good grip.
the boom is very stiff/strong, when sheeting in you feel the power come out of the sail, when you give it a pump, you can feel it come through, unlike my old boom, when you cant feel these things because it has such a high amount of flex and you only feel the boom spring back at you., but on this boom it is different, (apparently it is meant to be as stiff if not stiffer than the cheeper carbon ones)
something i also like about it is that it is completely hand assembled, not machine assembled, even the grip !
the head/clip has a large amount of rubber padding (and quite soft)and makes it excellent for jumping, if you have a bad landing and land with all your weight on the boom, it doesnt slide, even when you only have the clamp done lightly (as in the rope isnt very tensioned, because i didnt)
well worth spending that extra bit for a good custom boom, almost no flex, easy to attach, good out haul system, strong grip, etc etc.
cant wait for summer so i can give it a thrashing
