Last month, I have asked people about what vol will be suitable for me. I have little bit more knoweldge now with what I want. But still not too sure about the volume.
I am 73Kg, and sail on flat water (narrabeen lack), normally I try to sail, when ever if winds are there. 7-15knot. I start to have problem when wind gets bigger then 25knot.
I use 6m2 sail at the moment. but I guess I will need bigger one soon.
Here is Queston? should I get 120L or 140L. Please don't say 130L.
I cannot water start yet. And want freeride.

Hi gemax
Go for 140l to 150l.I weight 70kg and have a 145l.This volume you can easily uphaul.I sail Narrabeen at times and use a 7.5m2.
I am thinking of going 122l volume, which I still will be able to uphaul.

gemax, if you really want to sail in 7 knot winds then I would go for the 140L. If you were only going out in 12+ then I would suggest the 120L. In the long term when you start to improve and water start, etc., you can get a smaller board for stronger winds, and still have your big board to cruise the lighter winds and/or teach friends.

Harrow.

P.S. Sounds like you've found a board you like that comes in 120L and 140L? What is it? I'm guessing Exocet Scross, yes?

Hi gemax Im 85kg and the biggest board I have is 120lt scross.
I can sail in 10knot and up to 20knots comfortably.
There not may people that can sail in 7 knots of wind.
even with a 11 metre sail and formula board its hard work
unless your 60kg. I would go for the 120lt.

I have found tabou roket80 (140L) and starboard carve 123 (123L).
Both in excelelnt condition. And I like both of them. If I can make my wife understand I will buy both.
OK,more confused. I do understand I cannot enjoy with 7knot. I more go out 10-15knot recently. I have gone out when 30knot. and had trouble coming back home. HA HA
I have bad memory with surfing. I took surfing when I was young, and bought sexy low volume board and never got up.
Ok Neeed more recomms guy/gols. Help me.
which one 120L or 140L

Question
is lighter volume boards are faster? If wind is 15knot.

Gemax I wouldn't get a second board until you're a more competent sailer.
If your going to get a second board in the future you should get a 140 and 100 or 120 and a 90 lite. 120 and 140 are to close.

vando. I am tring to get second board. You must misunderstood me.
I am just in between, choosing 140L or 120L baord for my self.
Having lighter board is faster? what will be my benefit of having 120L instead of 140L

Hi gemax
Im with Harrow on this one.It sounds like with your ability 140l would be a easier learning curve. You can still sail a 140l with a 7.5 in light wind.

Denis, are you really trying to sell your 115 Rocket? How come? Want to swap it for a 105 Rocket? (I am assuming you are the Denis I met at Kyeemagh with the Commodore that gave me the water starting lesson.)

Regards,
Harrow.

I thought he wanted to sell it because he mentioned it's perfect condition.

Gemax, definitely with your weight go for the 120 or even less volume. With your weight, even the 12o will be a challenge in 20 knots plus. Narabeen is a lot flatter than the ocean, so as soon as you leave the lake the chop will make a bigger board harder to handle in stronger breeze.
