Thumbs Up

Just tried out the 2015 JP 83L thruster quad on both the thruster and quad setup (About 25-28 knots, 82kg, 4.7) in bump and jump kinda conditions. Both rock. The thruster set-up has a looser, skatier, and faster feel, while the quad set-up totally transforms the board, making it even easier to pop the board out of the water, but a lot grippier yet still loose but a more controlled looseness if that makes sense, maybe not as fast as the thruster, but better upwind ability I'd say, though that may be due to using the slightly larger fins. Really enjoyed sailing both set-ups, quite a different feel and both are great, but if I'd be forced to choose I'd go for the quad set-up. The jumping on the quad set-up was really quite a bit easier. I'd say it's my favourite board yet. Sailed the thruster set-up before in decent head high waves and it was great fun, really fast and loose. I'm yet to try the quad set-up in some decent waves - hopefully this weekend - though I reckon it'll be even better. I did use the 15.5 rather than the recommended 14.5 quad fins, but it worked really well in today's conditions.
