looking for feedback on the goya skinny pro v severne enigma v simmer blackline wave booms being used by heavyweights. which one can take the load of a heavy guy better?
has anyone compared the longevity of the head, the grip and pins with general use.
I have the Goya and Severne.
The Goya did snap on me about 4-5 months in while doing a downwind 360 however the ams were replaced under warranty and had been fine for nearly 3 years. The clamp became very loose due to carbon rubbing away so couldn't tighten anymore but took it of wrapped layer of tape around and stopped the play.
The Severne is newer but notice the head is becoming looser also but not looked yet if same issue or can be tightened up more.
Both still great booms to sail with.
I believe Goya is a rebrand of Aeron, right out of the factory.
Simmer uses Aeron hardware and used to be a rebrand but now makes the carbon bits themselves.
I have a Simmer Sx8 which is similar to the Blackline and it's been excellent. If you can swing it the Sx10 is a bit lighter but also has molded holes in the tailpiece which should last quite a bit longer.

I am not a heavy weight...still. I have used and abused all three wave booms for two seasons. So far no snaps, all are superb ..as is their price... The enigma has by far the most ergonomic boom head, while the goya supper skinny (the new '21 version with the all white arms,optimised lay up) is the slickiest boom I have ever had. Simmer is in between (clips seem to loosen a bit). I swapped the bulky Goya boom head with a Severne lock jaw (almost 150 g lighter!). You don't need a wave SDM adapter these days, do you? It has perfect snug fit. As a result my Goya super skinny 130-180 with the 32 inch Da kine lines weighs the fantastic 2.12 kg.....
Can't tell you anything about the Simmer or Goya (other than that they look great and are stiff) but I have had Severne Enigma Wave booms for the past 6 years. I am firmly in the heavy weight category and haven't broken one yet. Gone through severe heavy rinse cycles at Gnaraloo and Margies without no damage.
The plastic clips on the tail can break if you don't lock them in pace and leave your boom the car during summer... but hat pretty much applies to most plastics left baking in the car. Easily replaced though.

thx for the feedback. i have a severne here and tomorrow will check out the simmer booms. i'm a little worried about skinny arms because of issues i've had in the past but that was a few years back and not booms with the latest tech.

AL360 .. e3 carbon slim ...
Very nice comfortable skinny v-grip ... perfect if you have forearm cramp.
Quality of fittings is very poor unfortunately .. cracked tail clips .. and the plastic just feels poor quality.
i ended up getting a simmer sx10 which i pick up next week. was a good price through a mate and will match my sails. not as light as the enigma so keen to try them back to back in the coming weeks.
