So I'm in the market for a new board, but not really sure what to go for. Currently I have the following kit:
2003 Starboard Carve 123
2007 JP Freestyle 100l
2010 7.2 Neil Pryde Tempo
2005 6.2 Neil Pryde Search
2008 Naish Boxer 5.8
2008 Neil Pryde Atlas 5.4 & 4.5
200? Neil Pryde Core 4.0
The freestyle is the board I use 99% of the time and I love it. So I'm thinking of flogging the Carve and getting something newer.
I weight 78Kg and am confident in straps, waterstarting, jumping, hit ~50-75% of my gybes. I mainly sail on lake Macquarie, but am hoping to venture out in the surf this coming summer. I've been getting into using a GPS to track my speed and am keen to get quicker (I've done 22Kts on the freestyle, but would love to go faster.
I'm not that keen to get too much larger of a sail, but could probably go up to a 8m if pushed.
At the moment I am torn between selling the carve and getting a 110-120l JP x-cite ride or similar. Or keeping the carve and getting a 80-90l wave of FSW board.
Any suggestions
Go the 80-90 FSW - there are some bargain RRD, starboard and fanatic FSW on the seabreeze buy and sell at the moment - cant believe the price of some - quite a few of them from around NSW - most of them are pretty good fun in the waves (I had a 104 fanatic and its pretty versatile) - The JP thrusters arent too bad as an allrounder either - I like my 99l - just a bit harder to find second hand
good luck in your quest!!
Thanks for the advice, was thinking that kind of board may be the go but wasn't sure if it'd help me in my quest for speed.
I'm guessing I'll get a higher top end speed out of a 90l FSW this than the JP freestyle?
