I have been riding the new Tectonics Phoenix for the last 3 weeks now. They feel great straight away. Super positive grip without putting the nose of my board down. It felt fast, really slippery and smooth. You will need to engage the rail a little more when gybing compared to the Fury/Rapor.
The Phoenix settles more in the water giving it an edge in overpowered, choppy, gusty, scary conditions.
The Fury/Raptor has a little more flex with the power of the tip providing a controlled and level lift and shock absorption to improve the top end of the wider, bigger boards.
There is not much difference. Both fins are exceptional throughout the size range and you can not go wrong with either one. But for me I would go for the Phoenix and the larger fin sizes go for the Fury/Raptor. Phoenix 30-36 ( 38 ) and Fury/Raptor 38 above.
The range of these fins is incredible, it is easy to mistakenly use them over and under sized since they keep performing though they are the fastest in the correct size.

All fins have their pros and cons.
With my Sonic 97 and a 6.6m the Techtronics Falcon 34cm is by far the best fin I have tried in really powered up conditions.
Used this combo on Monday in winds gusting 30 knots,was surprised I could hold it.
When the wind drops to 15-20 I prefer to use my Sonntag 35. Much better upwind especially.

I haven't been able to find any feed-back comparing Talon's, and Talon T43's to these fin's.
I would really like to hear from someone who has used both.
All my fin's are Talon's , with a couple of them being T43's.
I have trashed my 50cm, and would like to buy a 52cm.
I really like to push hard on the fin, (specially on the larger).
I can't try / look at one, and Black Project are more readily available.
Anyone?????
me too - I have Talons for my smaller freeride in tuttle and looking for something similar in powerbox. I have bought select fins but don't seem to be as durable.
Have BP freeride fin but after something a little faster.

The difference between the Talon and Talon T43 is that the T43 is new grade of G10 that Tectonics makes themselves which has more layers of glass which is best for the flex of windsurfing fins as compared to the commercial G10 that comes from China which is inconsistent. This being too much resin which hasn't been pressed and vacuumed out during manufacture etc.
What you need is a 52cm Raptor. The Raptor compared to the Talon and T43. The Raptor is longer in the base and will give you more grunt and get you planning quicker with more height.
Black Projects are made in China. Tectonics fins are custom made in Maui.

My 32 Phoenix has similar lift to my 34 Mirage, similar to my 36 Gold Wings.
My 36 Phoenix lifts similar to my 38 Gold Wing, but a little smaller in low end and possibly a little bigger feeling at the top end.
I don't have Talons, but aren't they narrower in chord than Gold Wings?
My buds quiver of Fury's seem 2 cm smaller than my Phoenix's.
I have a 52cm Raptor, 41cm Weed Demon, 38cm Weed Demon, 40cm Phoenix, and 28cm Phoenix.
This fill's the gap's, and gives me a couple of big weed fin's.
So far I have fallen in love with the Raptor using it with the 141ltr Futura and 8.5m sail.
It's hard not to sound like I'm copying the marketing, but the "Controlled, Level, Lift" is really noticeable.
This really stood out with the noise under the board (pitter, patter like).
It plane's early, and once planing, it doesn't stop. It made everything seem effortless.
I can point as good as anything else, and control is amazing too. It doesn't seem at all like I'm using a 52cm fin.
I'm 96kg at the moment, and I can easily get it on the plane in twelve knot's, and once on the plane it takes a drastically prolonged lull to take me off the plane.
I've only had a couple of go's, and a lot of it was tuning, but I'm wrapped.
Now on to the weed fin's when I get a proper chance, and when it blow's enough (a lot), I can't wait to try the smaller one's on the smaller boards.
