At 91kg I am looking for a board that planes super quick for bump and jump and the loose feeling of a wave board. Had an Exocet Cross 117 and liked its quickness to plane and speed but it felt a little big so I sold it for a custom Quatro Fast Wave 102. The Quatro with my weight is not a good schlogger. Needs a wider tail to plane quicker. I have a Exocet pro series X Wave 93 and a Exocet pro series Exo Wave 85 and like the lack of weight. Was going to go with another Exocet Cross 114 or a used pro 118 but used is hard to find. Anyone try the new 3s 116? Is the LTD 3s the best way to go? They say it is fast and the Cross was fast when you pushed it. Getting ready to decide what to give myself as a Christmas present. Any help would be appreciated as not many people in the States are riding Tabou.
Unfortunately most boards are are a compromise when it comes to those two characteristics. You have to choose your bias towards one or the other.
I'm 90kg use a 94L board for my medium wind B&J board and I've gone through quite a few boards trying to to find the right balance. I have the Exo Cross 3 at the moment and it is a little on the stiff side. But I haven't tried the Tabou.
You may want to hang out for the 2012 range, I beleive that a few of the manufacturers are adding thrusters to their FSW boards. The thrusters help the board turn and improve the grip.
So I'm looking forward to see if 2012 delivers the perfect compromise...early planing, super fast loose wave board.. ![]()
I know after I sold my old Protech 273 I purchased the Starboard S Type 110 and it did not jump on a plane quick enough so I got the Cross 117. It planed quick but felt big. Next the Custom Quatro Fast Wave. Same thing does not plane quick enough. I am getting tired of trying to find the right board. Waiting for 2012 might be the answer.
