Hi all I thought I should give some feedback on the new shape (2017) Tabou 3s compared to the 2016 shape. I have been using the older shape 3s for a couple of years in both the 86l and a 106l board. I sail in mostly open ocean conditions in Safety Bay, I loved the soft ride and pop these boards gave me. I was finding the 106 a touch too big for the waves around the islands here so I decided to get the 96l 3S from Reg. I was a bit apprehensive about the newer shape as the old shape was such a good board. There was also not a lot of info on the forums about them except a magazine test of the 106. Any way I decided to give them a go ,Windsurfing Perth did me a sweet change over deal for my 106 and I was set. I have sailed it twice now once with a 5.7 and once with a 5.2 both times around 22 knots of wind. Wow this board is so much quicker than the old shape in all points of sail. The old shape I found was fast off the wind but a little slow going upwind. The new shape still has that comfort from the double concaves and when you get that sweet spot it just glides over the chop. You can still slow it down easily to hit that good ramp, the shorter length makes it easier to turn in the waves and it jibes well. My 106 was the ltd carbon construction while my new 96 is the cedar construction. I really cant tell much difference between them. Any way hope this helps anyone thinking of getting the 2017 model
Cheers

good review ...
I'M a rocket man LTD .also a great chop eater ..but have often thought of the 3S as a great WA board ...i beat its great in the chop....and ocean .
Good feedback. I got rocket 95 Ltd and 3s 76 Ltd and they make great fast comfortable boards for medium to strong winds on the ocean.
