Having used the two pin system for years i swapped to the euro pin system because that is all that some manufacturers extensions will take.
Used for freestyle ,bump my hump and waves and it sheered off!!! after two months.
i know this is unusual and probably 'bad' stainless ... but what is the strongest system?
Both do still have the central bolt going up to either the pin or cup though.
Pissed off as big gouge in board, but lucky not offshore when happened.
Picture shows sheared off europin still stuck in extension and two pin system on left.
After breaking a couple of threaded type euro pins I now use the Chinooks which is a cast type stainless steel pin, Ive never broken one since.
There are a few others too now with the same idea
.
Hi Vando. Is this base articulated ? (ie: can the pin be rotated, or is the pin fixed- so the extension has to swivel around ?)
The majority of the current 'name' brand Europin bases are good.
The screw on stud type from days of old were pretty crappy, & deservedly, gained a bad reputation, same for some of the cheapy ones of today......
It does look like yours is a Chinook copy.
For a few dollars more, it's worth stacking the odds in your favour.
Cheers
