Hi,

I am about 82kgs and current have a 2005 model S-type 104, Kombat 85 and EV0 74. My sails are Saber 6.7m, 6.2m, Expression 5.7m, Alpha 5.4m, Combat 5.0m & 4.5m. Where I mostly sail is on the bay.

I am currently thinking about upgrading some or all my boards. I love the S-Type and EVO. My plan is to maybe keep the EVO 74 for the 5.0m and 4.5m sails. What I am confused about is, what size S-type should I go for that suits my weight and the 6.7m and 6.2m sails?
Also I would like a board in between the S-Type and the EVO that I can try and learn freestyle with the 5.7m and use the 5.4m when the swells gets up for some semi wave riding? I find the Kombat 85 a little too small for the 5.7m for freestyle.

Any suggestions would help.

Regards,
Stephen

Hey

Would have thought the Stype 104 would have been great for freestyle with straps put inboard, otherwise get yourself a 2002 freesex cheap. The newer model got a bit too wide.

I'm consider change my S-Type 104 for a S-Type 115 and Kombat 85 for a Kombat 97. Has any one sailed the S-Type on Port Philip Bay? If so what sizes does the 115 suit? I'm about 82kgs.

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Sounds like you're settled on the starboards but you should give a JP a go before you decide. I'm also 82kg and sail primarily on Port Phillip Bay. I've got a 6.2 search and combats from 5.4 - 3.7. I've got a 100L JP Freestyle and an 85L JP Freestyle wave. They would be a perfect combination for what it sounds like you are after. The 100L Freestyle would take your 6.7 and 6.2 Sabers easily and would be perfect for Freestyle with the 5.7 expression in 15-20knots! Then the freestyle wave 85 for your weight is awesome on the bay with a 5.7 down to 4.5, you can cut up the bay swells and they really make sliding freestyle easier, plus they are on the plane super early. I tried the starboard Kombat 85 when I was deciding what board to get and personally for me there was no comparison. If you want to try either of those boards out there could be demo's at SHQ or I usually sail at Dendy Street whenever there's wind so you're welcome to give mine a go.
Cheers,
Fletch
