So after using them for a while My feelings are,
Bad, Really hard and I mean really hard to get on and off especially when dry. Toe divider just caused blisters so I turned the boot inside out and cut the divider off so making it round toe. Boot grips the board well but my foot slides on the inside of the boot even before I removed the toe divider. The socks that came with them don't seem to do anything but fall apart and bunch up. The material on top of your toes is quite tacky so rubs. Some times they stick in the foot straps.
Good, umm, the soles a bit more cut resistant then my xcel boots, the Velcro stays done up unlike my xcel boots. No water leaks in from the top, grip board well.
To round up I just ordered some more xcel dryloc 3mm boots and will put up with the soles getting shredded on the shells.
I just got a pair of the 3mm with internal split toe. Just used them and they are very comfortable, certainly better than my previous billabong split toes (which were pretty good too). - seem to fit true to size (I have narrow UK size 10 feet and the UK10 is spot on for me)
- not sure the heat molding process did much as they fitted well anyway, but they are certainly very comfortable
- seal with lower leg is very good indeed - no flushing after 2 hours which is a revelation for me. Partly explains why they are hard to get on and off as the seal is very tight
- socks seems to help with the getting on and off process, can't comment on durability
- very warm suggesting they'll be fine through the uk winter
Hi, I?ve got the 6mm Split Toe Model for the cold Days here in Germany.
First Impression was good Quallity, fitted verry well out of the Box
Heat molding was easy but not sure if something happend to the shoe, perhaps 6mm are harder to mold than 3mm Boots
First try when surfing was without socks because i never use socks in surfboots and i dont like that much clothes to pull on and off and get them clean and hang dry and so on. Bad idea because the boot is slippery inside so i got blisters.
Second try was with socks on and voila, more grip inside the boot.
The Boot with sock on or off is not warmer compared to my xcel infinity 7mm and Ion Ballistic Boots 6mm. I didnt get cold feet but they also didnt get cooked like in the other ones.
I needed to adjust the Straps bigger because the shoe is wider then the Xcel
My hope was to get a thighter fit around my foot but that didnt work. Ive the same wobbley fit like before when water and sweat are inside. Perhaps i have to get a 9 instead of a 10 and really Heatmold 2 or 3 times to get a thighter fit but that would get to expensive for now.
My broken left leg is 8mm approx shorter than my good leg.
Thinking about buying a pair of booties and adding a insole to one of them.
From experience you lose feel and your feet move in them. Also the whole bootie can slip off your foot.
Are the booties that go up your leg better than the shoe booties?
