Sailed my new revo 08 5.0m on monday arvo, they feel great on the water, sail power is very stable and controlable, they feel a bit stiffer than last year, that could be due to the increased downhaul on the sails this year. they rig super smooth, tight and a bit flatter than last year. rotation is great so back winding without a problem. haven't had them on a wave yet but keen as to try some down the line stuff on them.
hi pc are the batterns all the same from previous years , broke one today in my 7.5 retro ,and as you rightly said these sails are rock solid i had the 7.5 on my105 ltr speed board in 14 -21 knots to day , the more i learn how rig the sail the faster i go ,eg, was geting back handed in the gusts outhauled a bit more -sweet as by the way im 105 kilos had a massive catapault arfter hitting bull kelp at 30 knots only damage a broken battern befor it would have been hole in the sail there stong![]()
the revo battens are the same, but the Retro and Hucker run the same tube battens as last year, but they are now reinforced on the end of the tube sections with a alloy ring to stop the splitting thing the tubes are renouned for. you can get the alloy rings by themselves and put them on your old battens. they run them on the end of the tube closest to the luff sleeve.
only the Retro and Huckers have tube battens, too keep the weight down. i work for sailworks so we have a few old battens laying around...
would have to measure one, have s*_t loads of new ones, you just buy the section you need and put it together eazy as if you have the original to copy the length.. bit of stuffing around if you have to do it from scratch.
