Hi all, rode the 6.6m hucker today for the first time, it was about 14 to 16 knots pretty gusty, was riding a futura 122.
The sail is super grunty down low in the sail, and once its powered up it comes to life, the power moves up the sail slightly to the boom, heaps controlable even fully powered up, not to much pull on your back hand, but heaps through the middle of the sail, right on your harness lines, sheeting in and out the sail behaives nice, the shape stays where it's ment to be, just powers through the lulls, giving heaps of power to push off to keep you planning.
Didn't get much of a chance to jump the 6.6m, just a few little speed jumps, as i was expecting the sail felt great, this sail is designed to be in the air, so it hardly feel like you leave the water, but i knew this already as i have rode the Hucker 5.6 last year a few times, and got to jump it a lot more, there fast for a camberless sail so getting speed to jump is a snap, once up it just cruzed through the air, nice long jumps, this is due to the camber going most way up the sail, even bigger jumps around 6 foot felt the same, nice and smooth.
A great freeride or bumper jump sail would love to try a 4.8m in 25 knots and big chop.
The Hucker feels a bit more solid and over powers a bit better, the good thing is you can run a sail 2 sizes smaller, the 6.6m hucker is ment to be equivilant to a 7.5m normal freeride sail.
not sure about fastest monster, i know Dale Cook has clocked 42knots on one in the Gorge, through chop.
I believe the fastest Dale has got his Huckers going is just over 40 knots in the Gorge. It was on a 4.8, you can find more details here www.gps-speedsurfing.com/default.aspx?mnu=user&val=3273&uid=690
