Loving the new STARBOARD REACTOR 99

I've messed around with fin set ups and found putting NUEVO 160 fins in front position and 130 rears from
SB QUAD the REACTOR is much more to my liking.

The board now has plenty of bottom turn drive and snap off the top and with so much volume up front you can drive it very late
under the lip and get away with it.

The 99 shares very similar dimensions to the BLACK BOX 107 it replaced but pulled in from just forward of the mast track
back to around 5cm less width in the tail which make a huge positive difference to usable wind range, speed and jumping.

Have since had it out in some solid windy starboard tack conditions and found the surfboard style fin set up still worked great,
be keen to try smaller volume Reactors to compare but think the 99 is ideal board for my local conditions.

I've used sails from 6.2 Blade to 5.0 S-3 on it but found the 5.6 S-1 the best combo.

Cool video. Looks like an awesome board! How much do you weigh and what was the lightest wind strength you still had fun?

Hey Philn I weigh 82kg the 99 is my light wind board, plenty of float and vary stable as it's 65cm wide, have bogged out in 10kts cross off with a 6.2 Blade and once on the wave it takes off, found the fin setup I've gone for really helps drive and maintaining speed in turns in light winds. The above footage was in say 12 to 18kts with 5.6 s-1. Have sailed the 99 in around 20kts with a 5.0 and the board still felt great on the wave. Still love my 89 SB quad when conditions are on, but thinking of replacing it with an 87 reactor next season.

Awesome footage of flat top, looks like s super fun day !
Thanks for the review of the reactor !
I've picked up a second hand black box 107, it's super fun in the sloppy conditions with a 6.2/5.7 blade, I'm at 95kegs and it gets me out and turns in 12knots, my 101 quad only makes it out with 20knots plus, which is perfect to put the 5.7 on, without having to re rig !
I love the new style fish type wave boards, awesome for the full figured lad, or marginal east coast wave conditions. Cheers great review

Yeah Nerdburger Flat Top is an awesome spot rate the other side of Flaty even better in a southerly, one of the best starboard tack spots on the East coast.

Good to hear you've got yourself a Black Box 107, used one myself last season and had a ball in condition I wouldn't normally bother with and the Black Box
may even have the edge over the Reactor 99 in supper light conditions but it was a handful for me over 15kts, where as the Reactor handles well past that.

Have found the Black Box works great like the Reactor with Nuevo 160 front fins and a 150 in back, gives it a lot more drive for cross shore conditions,
Black project fins do a nice set for them.
