I am waiting to order the new gator 5.5 and ncx 7.0 when they come out(via dave at wild winds wellington)...my question is; what would be the next best/most compatible mast/s for each (after the severene masts) to use...the severne masts are a touch out of my budget. I am using the latest 6.0 gator on an X3 mast at the moment but seeing how i am changing my whole quiver to severne sails I really would like to upgrade from the low end X3.Also will you be making the gator in a couple more standard sizes ;ie 4.0,4.5 & 5.0 ? I have the latest blade 5.0 but feel that a 4.7 gator is too close to that for my next size down...... cheers kevin

The best masts for those sails would be our RED Line masts, but can see that they can be pretty expensive.
Did you look at the BLUE Line masts? These are a lot less expensive, but still have the exact same bend curve. They're a bit heavier than the RED Lines, but also more durable. The 6.0 and 5.5 would go best on the 430 BLUE Line RDM, and the 7.0 would go on the BLUE Line 460 standard diameter.
A lot of the cheap masts have some strange bend curves and stiffnesses... I don't really know of any that are consistent or functional. The Powerex is probably the next best option, but probably not a lot cheaper than a BLUE Line mast, and the performance is a lot less.
We're not going to have any 4.0 or 4.5 Gators in the 010 range - maybe it's better to stick with the Blades for your smaller sails if you've already got a Blade 5.0?

Is the 09 S1 more designed for the Severne mast bend curve as the 08? The 08 loose leach is more concentrated on the top while the 09 has a more overall loose leach.
If i switch my powerex RDM for a redline RDM will the sail become more softer of just stiffer?
