Hi guys! This question is rather for Ben Severne or somebody who is familiar with severne sails and freestyle.
I am looking for a freestyle sail for little wind and therefore wonder if the S1 5,9 and 6,3 are conceptualized as such or just for bigger wavesailors. I have a 2007 S1 5,3 qm and i luv the sail.

thanks for your help guys and heaps of fun on the water!!

hi there if was me i would take the 5.9 ,say in 15 knots on 110 litre freestyle board .most freestyle sailors have big boards small sails ,works better for tricks.
I guess comes down to your weight and what size board you plan to use. cheers windgeorge

Yeah, the 5.9 and 6.3 are configured as freestyle sails. The luff curve is different so the sail inflates quicker for better acceleration, and all the loading is set up for bigger volume freestyle boards. (The 5.9/6.3 have more downforce than the wave sizes which pushes a small volume waveboard down into the water, negating the effect of a bigger sail).

Ben.

Depend what you want to do and board you have, but 6.3 can to pretty much everything that a 5.9 can do...a bit longer on the boom, but it's not that bad. Sometime, you are better with a 5.9 VS a 6.3....usually it is when the recommanded mast is shorter, less mast, lighter...and lighter gear can get on a plane sooner...or the draw back of sails size worth it.
Good luck.
