I was given the privilege to try out the Quattro twin fin on Sun & Mon at south passage in Lancelin

On Sunday i was powered up on my 4.7 09 Goya 3d wave sail the waves were head high and pretty choppy.

On first impressions the board planed pretty early and had good top speed but what surprised me most was its up wind ability it was so easy to head out and tack back up wind to the take off zone.

Its has a very different feel to any other board i have tried which does include a couple of other twin fins

Due to its radical design its not a board i feel you can just jump on sail away and feel tuned in instantly, this one needed some minor adjustment with my sailing technique, as i soon found out on my first bottom turn,i caught a rail and end up head first in the drink

Alberto from Windshack did warn me to take it steady until i felt comfortable with the way the board turned, i never was a good listener

It wasn't till the next day that i felt really at home on this board

I was using my 5.3 09 Goya 3d wave sail not always planing. The waves were still just over head but much cleaner

Due to its short stubby length it took quite awhile for me to feel confident to lean forward and really drive this board on its rails through the bottom turn. But when i did i have never felt a board bottom turn so tightly and more importantly in full control as i have this one.
But that wasn't even the best bit that was to come next!

The top turn!

This board turned on the wave with the tightest ,smoothest top turns I've ever done.
It was just like surfing i found myself looking for steeper and steeper sections right in the pocket as the board would always seem to get out of there quick enough and get ready to do it all over again.

Normally on my top turn one of the problems i find is i tend to snap the board around and stall for a couple of seconds which normally means Ive lost most of my momentum and i end having a very scary drop back down the wave as it sucks out.
Not the case with the Quattro it felt like you came out faster than you went in,in one smooth motion.

A couple of time i pushed to hard on the top and lost the tail but it was really was easy to bring it back under control even on the whitewater

South passage is quite a slow wave at that size and this is where this board excelled, you can turn so tight from rail to rail that i found instead of out running the wave i just did another tight turn and stayed with the pocket.

I don't know if anyone would say i was sailing any better than when i sail on my single fin, i don't really care, because for those few hour i felt an excitement that i struggle to find on slow small waves

The way the rail grips i reckon it would be sick in big down the line waves as well, but as used it in these conditions i cant comment.

If your looking for a super loose wave board which is perfect to use in onshore waves you would be mad to buy a twin fin with out trying one of these little baby's.

I think there might be other twin fins that can plain earlier or be used in lighter winds but on the wave i would like to find one that's better and after all IT IS a wave board not a Formula board

Do yourself a favour and give one ago your wave sailing should improve so much faster

Board Quattro twin fin 72lts? i think Alberto from Windshack can help here with correct spec
Sails 4.7 & 5.3 09 Goya 3d wave review to come later
my weight 70kg

Sorry if this review long winded and poorly written but I'm a tradie not a journo
i just want to give this board the review it deserved
