Rumor has it that a number of manufacturers are currently testing both octa and octo boards. Expect to see the octa boards to hit our shores sometime in 2010 with the octo boards following in 2011.
According to insider sources the biggest problem with octa and octo setups is the additional weight of the board. Quite a bit of time is currently put into R&D to investigate if the additional weight can be counteracted through the use of aircraft grade carbon and making the boards hollow.
I am hoping to test ride one of those protos on my next trip to teahupoo.
