This is a prelude to a review as I'm yet to get the board wet, it's turned out so good that I just can't wait to show it off. As most would know I was getting a board built for the coming summer with light wind wave sailing to be it's key purpose. I called Pete at OES and this is what he had to say about a new prototype they were working on....The 'Hot Rod' Quad.

"The new 2014 HOT ROD shapes are going in to customs production. Super short and compact volumes with reduced tail surface area behind the back footstrap, greatly shapens the turning, both off the top and bottom without any reduction in early planing speed or control."

SOLD...I settled on a 127L version as it was a direct replacement for the SUP I was using currently on the real light days but I just found it lacked the excitement of real short board windsurfing. Something this new board should deliver on, At 225cm long it's super short but at 72cm wide it will give plenty of stability when caught out in the lulls on the sub 10knot days I like to sail in when the waves are good but hard to punch out through without power.

Anyways until I get it wet the pics will have to do but I'll let you know how it rip as soon as I can. Thanks to Pete for doing another great job, It looks totally sick and I'm so happy how it turned out.

^^^ 5.0 is the plan but I'll have to wait and see what it can do.

I've been thinking along similar lines re: replacing a SUP with a high volume board. I look forward to hearing your thoughts after sailing it.
