Was just reading about North's new iFront boom end on their website and to be honest to me it looks like an incredibly overcomplicated solution to a not overly difficult problem. Adjustable tilt flex, autoclose (I could see that becoming incredibly annoying already), Is this just a super gimick? Have North shot themselves in the foot with this one, or are they about to revolutionise the boom as we know it. Personally I think it's the former :D
Also their new 'wave' boom shapes. Aeron/Pro Limit booms taken to a new level? ^_^
Interesting ideas all the same.
The booms really do look rather strange. ![]()
And yea I think a lot of that stuff is just gimmicks. I don't think North will sell many of these new fandangled things. ![]()
It looks to be on all their booms so they might sell a few :p Wonder how much the i-technology will cost?
One thing I learnt racing cars:
Things that work well in CAD rarely work well in the real world.
If they can't make a ratchet downhaul winch that doesn't slip, what hope have they got of making a boom that's reliable?
I won't be buying one ![]()
Yeah could be an interesting development that one, i'm sure the rest of the industry is waiting to see how it turns out. The iFront...not so much :)
you have to hand to North (or any company that is trying to innovate) for trying. Personally, I try to avoid version 1 products. Having said that, a three piece interchangeable mast system sounds like a great way forward.
KISS - Keep it Simply Stupid (for those who don't know)
Agree, but a 3-piece (sounds like a KFC feed) would fit in my Pulsar! Instead of sitting in the sun on my roof
