I've got a 106 & 96 L 2015 3s and they are excellent.

The main difference to 2014 IMHO is a little more top end when you lock them down and a little more carve in turns. The boards also have a nice little squirt of speed on exit of gybes.

Wind range is wide, they plane quick, they pop more than last year and they are super easy to just get out on and have fun

I've got a 96L 2012 and 116L 2014. Excellent boards great all rounders. Use my 96 a lot in the waves with a 5.7.

Fins step up is important, depending on what you are wanting the board to do. With my 96 I run quite a wave type fin, which is way better than the standard fin for wave sailing.

For my 116 I run a freestyle wave fin (choco starfish 28) with my 6.2 blade and a choco spirit 38 (freerace type fin) with my 7.0

Great fun boards

i'm 88kg

I should get my 2015 96 Limited in a couple of weeks so you can check it out if you want Kurt.

Hi K Dog,

I went carbon and I weight about 95kg

I'm really impressed with this new shape in both my 106 & 96. Bring on summer

I loved it so much I came home with the 85l. The 95l has much more drive off the fin. Good for early planing, jumps and forwards
The 85l carves better on the wave.

That's an awesome video. Nice work!

Yeah I'm getting keen on a 105 carbon. Great versatile board by the sounds of it :D

Curious, why such a small size difference in boards ? and what conditions you use each board for ?

I have found the wind range of the 96 is good from 20-35+ so no need for anything smaller. I use this board for waves, high wind & just blasting with mates using anything from 4.5-5.7

The 106 is for those days I want easy planning in sub 20 knots and still have a board that turns well in small beach breaks & lumpy chop in 18-25. It will also be my first choice for LOC 2015 if it's 25+.

I then have 115 & 125 tabou rocket for downwinders & blasting

yes I concur with that. There is a big difference between the 96 and 106, the difference is in the width, 61cm vs 64.5cm. I did just have a 106 however is was too big for general wave and bump and jump and in the air (for my weight) where as the 96 is excellent for me in 17-22knts (5.3-6.2). Thats why I went to a 116 as its only 1.5cm wider than the 106 at 66cm. Another option would have been the 115L rocket.

Hi. I just ordered a 2015 3s 96L. At the moment, my largest sail is a 5.7 wave sail. I'm considering adding a slightly larger no-cam freerace sail for those really flat days. What do you say, does the 96 work well with, say, a 6.7 sail, maybe with a larger fin or is 6.2 the max you would choose?

A 6.4 would be about the biggest in my experience. I've run a 6.2 no problems. I've got a 7m I run on my 116 3s however thats way to big for my 96. Tabou has 6.6:as a max sail size for the 96. The 5.7 is the sweet spot for the 96.
