MY X3 400 MAST JAMMED THE OTHER DAY DUE TO BUILD UP OF SAND AND GRIT...I GOT IT APART AT HOME BY RUNNING THE HOSE OVER THE JOIN AND WIGGLING IT UP AND DOWN...MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHILE WIGGLING I NOTICED THAT AT THE TOP OF THE LOWER SECTION JUST UNDER WHERE THE TWO MAST HALVES MEET, MOISTURE/AIR BUBBLES WERE BEING FORCED UP THROUGH WHAT I CAN ONLY PRESUME TO BE THE "CARBON WRAPPED CLOTH" THAT IS THE OUTSIDE OF THE MAST...
HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS..OR KNOW IF ITS STILL OK TO USE..?. I CHECKED MY X3 430 MAST AND IT IS THE SAME ALSO..
YOUR THOUGHTS WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED..
firstly... try and not write everything is upper case... a) it's hard to read and b) in web terms this is akin to someone yelling.
Now to your question, are there any visible cracks that wrap around the mast. Also, how far below the where the mast halves meet is the "damage"?
Do you still have warranty on the mast? If so I'd suggest you take it back to the shop were you bought it. They would definitely know if this "normal" or if it's some type of damage.
