There arent any reviews on Maui Sails on this site. Anyone from here use their wavesails? Am interested in the onshore one - the "GLOBAL". Good prices at The Windsurfing Shed at the moment.

Barry Spanier the designer used to work at Pryde right? should give him some beach cred?

feedback good and bad please

Been looking at these too but since my masts aren't hard tops maybe not so compatible with the Maui sails.

Both Severne and Maui sails rig on hard top masts with an IMCS bend of about 10 (constant curve mast about 15). Not too helpful I know but if you're gunna spend big bucks on new sails make sure the mast is compatible.

The site below illustrates what I'm talking about

dont rely on that, I had maui 400rdm 75 which was certainly not at hardtop end of spectrum. Remember alot of these wave sails are made to suit rdm's which are inherently softer.

maui's as a brand are great, just don't have a good import network to australia & it's such a small market that its hard to break into unless you are dirt cheap.

I've tried/owned other maui's but not the globals. I think the older globals weren't full xply so just double check that if xply important for you in a wave sail.

Good points there. Thanks fellas. The price is certainly right on 2011s at the moment that's for sure. Need new masts anyway as all gear was ripped off recently so am restocking the whole bloody lot. Cheers.

Hi,
I have used the Global 5.4 for a while as a light wind sail in the wave as I am around 77kg, it looks a great sail for heavy guys who like having lots of back hand, the profile is very stable, there nothing really wrong with this sail it will last you at least 2,5 years easy as they reinforce the bottom and the middle panel the last 2 years.

Really , was it pinched from home, vehicle or beach ? I just renewed my home contents insurance this morning and toyed with the idea of specifying my gear, but in the end did not bother as could not imagine anyone taking it as I would think it is almost impossible to shift on the black market ?

Took the lot, car and gear. Was sailing at the time. Here is the post on seabreeze.

Luckily I had $1000 of unspecified mobile contents with AAMI so they gave me the pay out no worries (cant speak highly enough about these guys and their claim process by the way - speedy and painless,). When I get my new stuff I will be upping the cover, the max for movable contents is $5,000 for unspecified gear. The cover is cheap, for the $1000 of cover it was approx $35pa.

The $1000 payout was for $5000 of gear, mind you it was $5000 when the gear was new in 2007, so I am calling it "Even Steven" given that second hand gear sells for not much after about 4/5 years of age!

Think they wanted the car, not the gear, as per your thoughts. Gear was never recovered, may turn up in the bush somewhere one day....the car was used in another crime locally and then burnt to the ground in a National Park 40 mins south of Port Mac
