I was amazed the other day when comparing the lengh of 3 brand new unused fixed lengh harness lines. All of high quality and reputable makers.
three 22 inch lines varied in length by 2 inches!!!. yes that 2 inches!!!.
How can you take note of all the hype about harness line length when makers cant even use a standard ruler!!.
All i can say is if you break a line and want the exact same length then better take your old lines to the shop.
cheers
This is probably the most pressing issue that we as consumers face when dealing with windsurfing equipment manufacturers.
I personally believe that there should be a standard put in place to measure the length of harness lines, after all the actual length of your harness lines can differ depending on the diameter of the boom it is attached to.
Manufacturers should be held accountable and line lengths should be +-0.5mm at minimum, how can we bust sick flicky spinny **** and win races if we don't have confidence in the exact length of our harness lines?
Absolutely deplorable behaviour from equipment manufacturers.
p.s. why are you using 22" lines?
There was a article in one of the windsurfing magazines a year or two back on the very topic. As you say, some were out by inches, both longer and shorter than stated on the packaging.
I got really ripped off. I found out that one of my arms was longer than the other. ![]()
I allways use adjustables which solves most problems.
Swoosh, i use 22" as i am only 4' 2".
No , really it was for a customer and if a customer wants he gets.
They pay the bills
cheers
Stick with the same brand harness lines all the time and you should not have any problem, it probably won't be 22" or 24" etc exactly but it will be consistent between your old and new ones...
Slightly off topic..... these moulded harness lines look ok.http://www.windsurfermag.com/magazine/clip-harness-lines-adjustable-injection-moulded-windsurfing-harness-lines/?params=MTd8MTIxfDM0Mg==

I wouldn't mind trying a set. Not so keen on the colours though.
Got a set, They work fine but Spotty broke the clip on one first time he tried to adjust them (But Spotty breaks everything!!!!
So durability may be questionable?
I agree, 22 sounds a bit too long. I'll be sticking with my 20's.
