Used my 48cm MFC RC Racing for the first time yesterday. set it up with a nxs 120lt viper speed slalom and an 2005 model 8.5m KA formula sail in 8-15 knots.

very impressed with this fin. it felt very powerfull and fast. pumping onto the plane and exiting gybes really improved after trying the mfc. the tip of the fin is wide and stiff and i think this is what helps.

windward performaces -

also excellent. at no point did i spin out sailing to windward. even when pointing through small chop the fin kept gripping.

reaching -

the fin is stable and fast. i never felt the fin holding me back.

spin out -

i tried on several occasions to spin the fin out by pushing against it even in the lulls. at no point could i spin it out. i did however hit a large patch of weed that made it let go. i was surprised that the board didn't completely slide out. the fin kept trying to sort itself out and was easy to pull back into shape with my rear foot.

strength -

unfortunately checked out the stregth of the fin when i hit a sandbank at speed resulting in a catapult. no probs for the fin.

positives -

1. plenty of power exiting gybes
2. superb upwind
3. impressive acceleration
4. great fin for wide style slalom boards

my comparison fins are tectonics mirage and torquay world cup slalom and race.

overall the tectonincs feels slightly faster on a reach but the mfc betters them with the 4 positives listed above. i'd buy more. and think this fin is superb across the wind and upwind. brilliant for light wind slalom.

The package certainly looked the goods to me - good speed, good control - sorry I missed the catapult tho
