Has anyone tried the Dakine impact harness. Looks like a waist harness built into a vest. As I was originally looking for a low profile pfd, this may be another option.
Question..... Is an impact vest a pfd or designed to give flotation?

If you want floatation then the impact vest will be of little help. Look at a bouyancy vest (prolimit have one - you can wear it with a waist or seat harness), or a proper PFD. If you want to wear a waist harness then check out the canoe / kayak shops they carry short PFD's.

Hope this helps.

A mate of mine has one and loves it. It gives him enough float to relax in the water while setting up for a waterstart and is also low-profile enough that it doesn't get in the way.

It's not an approved buoyancy vest / pfd but it will give you the float you're looking for. In case it matters, he's about 80kg and has the M size impact-harness.

got the dakine impact vest as a leftover from kiting it offers enough bouyancy for me at 73kg and works easily with my dakine waist harness. I hesitate to buy multifunction items as it limits use if you want to use it for other purposes. Although if I had my time again I would go the NP high cut bouyancy vest

Yea, still not sure if to go the combo or keep them seperate. Either way after 20+ years without using any floatation safety its got to be an improvement. I could be just getting paranoid as my last sailing purchasase was a gath hat.

Thanks for the input

We have the latest Liquid Force Impact Vest in stock, new $179 or demos $119 in all sizes. Very well made and protected if not the best in the market we have come across. Saved a few impacts on ribs, which most vests dont give much protection. Welcome to come and try them on water and see how it feels.

Thanks padi,
actually I sent you an email on liquid force vest sizes a few weeks ago when you had a couple on ebay. As I got no reply I didn't bother bidding further. I'll be back in brissy in a couple of months and will come by for a look then.

Did recieve your "feed your soul" DVD tho thanks, its great other than that grating euro accent.

Cheers

I got a KA one....love it. And you can load it with lead if you want to use it as a weight vest.

Mikey, Do you have a pic of this vest? Where'd you get it and how much?
Thanks.
