First sail on the KA Race 2012
Quick sail after work to give it a run. I have used Koncepts for a long time now so I was taking a risk moving onto the race for 2012 because I love my Koncepts.
First impressions are everything in life, so this was a good test sail because it represents my average sail. Rushed after work or on the weekend and need to be home by 5.30 to play with the kids.
Rigging: Super easy same as the Koncept. That is a huge plus for a race sail, I hate wasting time at the water tweaking stuff prior to getting on the water.![]()

How does it look: Fantastic I received comments about how nice it looks on the water.![]()

On the water:
First thing is the huge power that rips the board onto the plane, then as you sheet in it sits steady and super easy to control, you can tell the sail is continually breathing actively as you sail with minimal rider input so you can focus on the water. Control is fantastic and a huge step forward the feel in the boom is steady with power to burn!!.
Speed off the wind for rough water high speed sailing is better ![]()

than the Koncept and has a huge sweet spot that is super easy to pin down and hold. GPS 2 sec in rough water 35.82 knots on a Naish sp ltd 95 2010.![]()

remember this was my first sail on the Race and its my second fastest peak ever in average conditions and on my 95l slalom board![]()

Gybe is powerful and faster in and out and the power out of the gybe is excellent to say the least. ![]()

Heaps of fun...rotation is fantastic no problems
high wind jumping is fantastic the sail has super glide in the air.![]()

Is it better than the Koncept??
The KA Race 2012 is like a whole new experience more power down low that is locked and steady. Super fast reaching speeds allow you to take advantage of a gust and run hard off the wind in total control![]()

If you love a Koncept and consider your sailing ability as advanced sailor looking for an easy rigging, rock steady, easy to lock down power house? This is it!!!!!!!!

Great you are enjoying it Russ. I was just in Perth for a few days, bugger all wind though but I did manage to take Jespers gear for a bit of a spin at Melville (and found the sand bar with the weed bed on my first run, hope he is not reading this!!!)
7.9 Race, man it had some grunt and felt way fast. A touch stiff through the transitions but Jesper had 2 cam spacers on each cam, mere mortals like me would probaby set it up a bit softer. I was really impressed with this sail as I had only managed a quick spin at Sandy Point on mine previously in no wind, so could not get a true appreciation. I think it is going to get lots of use this Summer blasting around in light seabreezes.
Great job working with Andrew on the development of this sail Jesper.
The F2 82 Slalom felt super nice as well, planned in hardly any wind and absolutely flew. I think I want one.
Speeds keep ticking up in rough water 36.22 Knots today.
Jasper sold me a nice fin 32 Vector Rocket that work a treat (nice Fin).
Cheers Russ
