How did JP improve my favourite board from last year? The JP 84 was a great board but the 92 would probably take 2-3 board lengths over even a shortish run just through acceleration alone.
I'd guess the top end range and speed is about the same but it's the way it got there that really blew me away over the weekend. The 92's acceleration out of gybes and off the start line was amazing even with the board being a bit underfinned with the C3 32 (34 is on my wish list) . With planing all sorted out you could run smaller efficient sails which are just so much more fun to sail and race with.
Anyway, if anyone in Sydney wants to give her a run just let me know and you can see if I'm right or not.
Sam, you need to bring it down to Botany so we can give it a real test in the 20-30 knot NE'ers we're having at the moment. A few more forecast from Thurs on.
BTW, what sort of sail range does the board have?
i just fondled one in the flesh today!
compared to the 84 looks very practical in extra volume and tail width, add user friendlyness.
the 84 was often a little small in marginal conditions.
HI Des, I'll see when I can get down there. Would be nice to strap a GPS to it to see what it can do. As for sail sizes I've only used a 6.2 and 6.7 but a 7.2 - 7.5 would be pretty easy with a good 34 fin.
Mineral, the board I have should be showing up all over the country as it's the full prod model.
Sorry Elmo but she is sweet. The bigger 112 could be the same sort of improvement over the 104. Over here I know the Boss Man has had a few sessions on the 112 and seems to like it.
Finally Rexy. Give me a shout this time next year if you can wait! How's the knee travelling?
But Sam, the real question is...
In a 16 race event, how many would you expect to win on this board???
JB
Here is a bit more of the 92....

Looks like there are some JP speedboards on the way, yeeeeehaw![]()
I had a real quick go of the board in question and was really impressed.
Absolute crap conditions, super gusty wind and big holes everywhere but it planed very easily and early and supported my holiday weight quite well until it went to 0 knots. in the slightest gust it popped onto the plane nicely and felt great going down wind and gybed beautifully in horrible conditions.
Cant bloody well wait until I can try it in decent conditions.
C3 Venom 32 fin felt sweet too.
