Has anyone sailed one of the recent Ezzy Infinities and can comment on how firm the rotation is?

I'm trying to decide between The Infinity and The Freeride in sizes 6.5 and 7.5 for bay blasting. Looking for grunt, a big buttery sweet spot and ease of use.

Have an infinity 7.0, and with an Ezzy RDM there are no rotation issues ever. It only needs a pump if you're stuck in under 5 knots, never had any probs with the lot rotating when I'm actually sailing.

Big buttery sweet spot, and with an adjustable outhaul I can be planing from around 13-14 knots to 25 knots...

Narrow luff tube too so it isn't a total pain in the butt to waterstart. Very nice sail

Yeah, agree with nebbian. Had a 09 6.5m Infinity and always rotated easy - no problem what so ever. I use ezzy rdm's also.

Wish I hadn't sold it!

I recently bought a 7.5 Infinity and rig it on a North SDM and rotation is very smooth and a nice gutsy sail.
It comes with SDM and RDM cams and various cam pockets to suit most masts.

See setup info here..........

ikw777 - just to add, you pretty much described the Ezzy Freerides also. Really good bottom end grunt, huge wind range, easy as to rig..... I have a freeride and until recently had a Infinity. Hard choice to say which I prefer.

I guess the question is whether the infinity has more ability to pull you through lulls and if that ability is that much greater than the Freeride.

ikw777 - To me it felt as though that was the case, the Infinity does seem to keep you going through the lulls a bit better but by how much more I couldn't really say. I felt it had slightly more of a locked in/stable feel to it and I didn't have to adjust my stance as much when sailing through lulls. Great blasting sail and would probably prefer it over the Freeride if I had to choose.

What about the size of the luff tube? Any issues with it filling with water and making waterstarts harder especially with RDMs? Or are they pretty narrow? I'm used to a very narrow lufftube on my Aerotech Rapidfires.

No problem at all. I have really only ever used Ezzy's apart from the occasional "demo" of another brand so can't compare with other cambered sails but I never had an issue with the luff filling with water and making water starts difficult. I also havn't noticed any difference between the Freerides I have and the Infinity I had with regards to waterstarting and the luff filling with water.

I bought my infinity due to exactly this issue with another brand's huge luff pocket...

It's about as narrow as you can get. No issues with it filling with water at all.
