Does anyone have any experiance using a Hs 96 and Hs 105 ? Would the 96 plane as early as the 105 ? Or is the 111 a better board for more overall conditions. I weigh 73kg and i dont want to get the 96 if it is too small. I have only had a go of the 105 and got it planing in 8-10 knots. I have found some new and quite cheap 96 and 111. Or should I get the 105. I'd like a new board, but would look at a second hand 105 if that is the one to get. I heard that the 105 was faster than the 111. Is this true ???
Help

The HS is the type of board you are generally using with larger sails so I think unless you find a bargain I'd avoid the 96. I can't see any advantage having less volume, probably more of a hindrance imo. If you want something fast there are much faster boards that are of that size range (96ish L).
Not really sure over the difference between the 111 and 105. I think the 111 has 'fatter' rails/nose and is a touch shorter. I'd imagine they would be fairly close in performance. I have a 105 myself and have had a lot of fun on it. Great blasting board for lighter conditions with a huge windrange/sailing angle range.
Hello Azz,
I am 75kgs and ride the hs96 wood and love it in 10 - 15 knots with rs6 race sails - 7.2 and 6.2. In light flukey conditions the hs96 is excellent. I use a gps and have done a 33 knot (61.1km) top speed. My dad has the hs111 dram and my uncle has the hs133 dram and i have ridden and compared all 3 boards. The hs111 goes upwind slightly better than the hs96 but the hs96 definately is alot more slippery and faster overall - definately over long distance. This maybe due the fact of the hs96 being wood top - lighter and more responsive. The hs133 is great in lighter conditions but gets overpowered earlier than the hs96 and hs111. I highly recommend the hs96 wood version especially for the lighter flukey days. I have ridden a hs105 and found it was sinkier than the hs96 and also not as fast.
I hope this helps.
P.S. Where are the cheap hs96 boards and are they dram or wood version? Please email if possible at cmac308@bigpond.net.au
Cheers
Carl Macdonald.
They are sunshine Coast sailboards. There is a wood 96 and dram 111 second hand and a great price on new ones( have a look at their web site). I currently ride a 111 wood and love it. It flies upwind and goes in 9 knots with a 8.5 and 49 fin. Other guy I sail with has the same kit and planes eariler, he is only 79kgs.
