Which GoPro is the one to get for windsurfing; the Surf or Outdoors.
Outdoors has more attachments; head strap, handle bar mount, etc,
Surf has the floaty back door - which i'm wondering wouldn't really be required if its tethered to the boom or ??
Which attachment do most windsurfers use for mounting on the boom and mast?
I got the Surf... as it was a birthday present = ![]()
I use the floaty back even though it's lashed to the flymount / rig.
Although on my 7.4 I don't have a loop in the sail at the mast head, so I'm still figuring out how to secure it there.
I have ben keen to get one and have been wondering the same thing. The guys in Maui were recommending the outdoor model (because of the extra attachments) and then seperately saying to buy the floaty pack if you really want too. But they made the point that you were unlikely to find it if lost in the surf even with a floaty pack.
See the setup gazza used, good angle and used it myself.

My Video using Gazza mounting setup.

At the start of the video I am using the same stepup as gazza(blue nude board)
and later I am using the handlebar mount standard(red starboard) with no extra links because I broke one of them earlier.
The gazza setup gives you a better view on both tacks but it is a bit more vunerable to breakage as it sticks out.
Use the black hinge cord and tie the camera to your outhaul rope and make sure you secure it so it doesn't flap infront of the lens when you are going along.
Only problem with these mounts is the links can break fairly easily and you cannot buy the links by themselves, you have to purchase a kit which is $20 each time with all these bits you don't need.
Also put some spit on the lens to stop droplets or various products you can buy.
The gopro2 is a fantastic camera and I use it all the time now for family stuff.
I use Imovie on my ipad and have a sd adaptor from apple and can do it very quickly on the go( as long as you don't want the fancy effects!).
