As I was quite impressed with the Freewave that I bought a while back and to be honest very impressed with the construction and finishing details of it too, I recently bought, second hand, a Flikka Compact 105. Initially I was thinking 115 would be better but the 135 can be used right down to a 5.3m sail and the 105 should hold a 6m sail so theres cross over in that respect. One came up for sale and I bought it.

Its quite plane looking but its still a custom in their more expensive Dynema light construction.

I have ridden it twice so far both times for at least 3 hours.

Dimensions are 227 x 64 x 105 litres. Weight around 6kg. Rocker 4, same rocker as my Freewave.

I first used it in thruster mode with 20cm centre fin and 12cm sides which was ok with a 5.3m but got a little twitchy when over powered, also had to get used to a wider foot spread. Most boards I ride I use 42cm from the back strap screws to the centre of the screws on the front strap but this board is 47cm, I got used to it quite quickly but think initially it made me spin out lots as I was shifting weight from front to back straps too much. Gybed beautifully and was smooth until it got over powered, still very sailable but also very twitchy.

Today I set it up as a quad fin, 17cm medium rears with 85mm stiff front fins ( All Flikka fins) Worked a treat and was very smooth and controllable with a 5m (Ezzy Taka 2024) and gusty winds 23 to 35 knots. Gybed even better with way more speed all of the way through the turn and was like a skateboard on the small harbour swell. I did notice that the turn was much more controllable, half way through the turn you could tighten it up with a little more pressure where as with thrusters is was more of a constant curve.

All in all very impressed with the company, their designs and construction, fins work well and I would recommend a Flikka board especially their Freewave range.

Love my Flikka. I cannot say enough good things from start to finish. Over 200 sessions of punishment, still a relevant design, and going strong. Best secret in windsurfing.

6kgs for that volume in dyneema version is neat.
I have similar compacts from the Poland based Puls Boards, very apt shapes. Personally like the non-reinforced/HD versions better, a more dampened ride imo.
