A super angry Port Phillip Bay today with big breaking waves everywhere and nasty messy wind chop. Great day to try a new board Rigged 4.7 Kiamikaze and out I went.
First impression....it felt small. I would have been sailing at 95 kilos with the winter steamer and the 58 wide 89 litres did feel little. It also was not actually that windy and except for a coupe a squalls, one where I go nicely spanked, I was underpowered.
However the board felt excellent when I was powered up. Super smooth and pretty fast but also turns great and if you carve hard it really throws spray. It felt just like a small version of the 98 which is exaclty what I was after.
I really need a 4,2 day to give it a proper workout and it will rip for sure.
So far very happy.

Yesterday there was a nice Northerly on Port Phillip Bay so time for the second shakedown of the winter wetsuit. Not enough wind for me to try the new Fusion 58 so I was on the big sister, the 61 98 litre and had a ball, LOVE this board. I asked local sail Jan Kruze if he wanted a spin. on the 58..Jan is one of Vics best wave sailors. He had his go pro on and last night without any prompting from me put together this little video. Very cool of you to do that Jan! I dont think he would mind me saying how much he liked the board." As good as any of the big brands" he said. "Fast, easy and a turning machine." I am so stoked that he liked it. He was critical of the strap placements, too narrow. For whatever reason that is what I like. If anybody else wanted to order one however all that stuff can be customised.
I did take it for a spin later with the 5.3 which I would not use on this board normally. I got it going and it handled that sail......when I was powered up it felt awesome...so much fun to blast and throw around. Hanging for a fully powered up day to really see what it can do.
