Has anyone got any experience with Fanatic Sharks? If so what are the pros and cons?

---- having said that, Im stuck between the Fanatic Shark, JP Xcite Ride and the Futura all in the 130 litres range. Majority of sailing will be open bay with fair amount of chop on NE and SE which are predominate (Eden NSW).

From the experienced blokes ive spoken to, some lean towards Fanatic (strength) and Fanatic/JP for chop but also like the Futura for top end speed.

Im 6ft 100kegs. Back to beginning back hoping to prgess quicly after 10+ years way - so aiming around the 130 litre range. (need uphaul again to start with) and can hopefully then become lighter day board and encourange friends as well.

Any suggestions welcome as keen to get cracking.

your just a bit liter than me as for speed well water conditions govern that im now the happy owner of a fanatic and they slice through the chop and i find also compared to the two other brands they have more volume in the rear of the board wich is good for us heavy wieghts and a lot tougher so it all boils down to where you will be sailing flat water or choppy water

Monster,

Thnks forthe other emails - they've opened up some more options. With the Fanatic - what are you riding? Ive looked at the Shark. Do you know of much difference between the HRS (heavy skin) and the lightweight (???) Any other opinions welcome too

Hey there I recently rode a Shark over seas and found it to be a very dull board. My Starboard 'Go' has more go. I swapped the shark for a JP of similar size and had a much better time. Having said that the Shark was very tough, snapped a fin off on a reef and the fin box was 100% fine, I dont think the Jp would have been the same.

I've snapped a fin off a JP on a turtle and it handled it fine - no damage to finbox at all. It was a 07 FSW wood sandwich. I reckon they withstand a fair bit of punishment.

Thats good to know about the JP as I am thinking about a new JP Super Sport board. When the $ allow it of course.

hey Tim,
i've got the supersport 109L Pro and it is a fantastic board, Light, stiff, comfortable and goes like the clappers.
