Just got my 6.9 Wave Panther yesterday. Looks nice, extra tough construction (even for an Ezzy!) thanks to new materials in most of the sail panels, and the luff sleeve. But it's light! (my judgement could be slightly askew because I usually use much bigger sails) and the boom is about 10cm shorter then the 6.9 Ezzy Wave, which I have just replaced with this one. The shorter boom alone (no cutouts needed, Mr Pryde!) should make for a lighter overall feel, as well as easier gybes and waterstarts.
I've tried it twice, for about 3 hours each day on flat water in 15-18-20 knot winds. Yesterday was stronger and I had the whole sail rigged with 1cm too much downhaul and way too much outhaul - so the result was ok, not great. The wind was very shifty and gusty, as well. With wave sails the idea is to change down when you get overpowered, no?
Today was a BIT lighter and I let the outhaul off a few cm to give it some belly, and it was SHWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Power power power, fun fun fun, I LIKE THIS SAIL! It feels a bit less like a locked-in freeride sail than my old Ezzy Freeride No-Cam 7.0 did, but what do you expect from a wave sail?
Plese don't ask me why I got a wave sail for flat water. I'm a flat-water wave sailor, ok???
